when i start a DRK should i use a scythe from the start?

I see no reason not to from the start. You might considder lvling up great sword at the same time, or at least trying to keep it close to capped also for use in skill chains when you start partying. If you used great sword before then i would definately use a scythe to get it lvled up.

Depends.

I didn't want to use gimp scythes till I had something halfway decent, like Cruel Scythe (But I broke down and got Plantreaper ... sigh). I used a WAR 2hd swd job so I used Deathbringer (2hd swd) at level 5 on my DRK (For level 1 to 4, I think I tried different weapons and fooled around since I was still doing chains for up to #3 without much trouble in solo play).

Deathbring was just so ... <3 I think I died so many times at level 10 to 12 due to the hate transferred on me with just criticals ... ><
