FFXI Competition?

Should FFXI Feel threatend by EQ2 or World of Warcraft? or maybe even linage2?

some of my ls mems have left ffxi for lineage 2 and i'm sure some people will leave for WoW and eq2 but ffxi sure as hell won't be "threatened" imo. FFXI is gonna stick around for a good while i think :)

no, none of the above...but yes to games like The Matrix Online IF it goes to PS2 and PC...if its just PC(like it is now) then once it comes out, a few ppl may go to that....

but since these are 2 different types of games, I'd say it depends on the players. But if FFXI can keep up its uniquness via updates, more classes, quests, features, etc, then it has nothing to worry about. but at its current state, its most likely tied with EQ2 (only FF11 is a little better) but still theres a possiblity another MMORPG can catch up...:sweat:

I think the game would be great if it was threatened by the other games. I would force the game developers to kick it up a knoch, and that would lead to our wishes being fufilled..

Its very rare for another mmo to be threatened by other; that only happens when the games truly suck (sb).

FFXI will always have good numbers because its final fantasy.

and no it hardly ever works like that, as long as they have a good number they wont really care if your wishes be fulfilled. There is a reason why they are called wishes because wishes are viewed as something great and not unexpected.

Since you dont expect it they wont give it to you.

FFXI has over a million subscribers, and squareenix has probably the hugest following in the world. I think the other games should feel threatened by them. Look at SWG it claims to be the second biggest mmorpg, but thats by claiming EQ is #1, where's FFXI in that equation. Publishers so scared they dont want to recognize our game.:)

Correction, FFXI has over 500,000 subscribers. There is, however, over a million characters.

that would be b ased on the assumsion that of those 500,000 or more, almost all have 2 characters, which i highly doubt is the reason for over 1 million characters.

over 500,000 could mean 600,000 or 650,000...
