Getting ready for AF3

Ok so I just hit 60 and am going to try AF3 and wanted to ask a quick question. When some of the other drks I know attempted this quest they had a full alliance going of people between 55-65 i think. When they fought the NMs they only managed to kill the weapon but then they all got killed by the skeletons. After a certain amount of time the skeletons disappeared and they all got raised and still got their helms. Now my question is Is it possible to just kill the weapon, escape, then come back in and collect the prize? Or do you HAVE to be there and not leave the area until the NMs are gone? If a full alliance of 55-65 failed on af3 i feel sorry for them.....I did it with 11 people 55-65 with no problems..

I did it with a full ally of 60-65's...and I'm 57 and I could nail that thing pretty hard (funny thing is, the people there who claimed Sniper's Rings are shit missed on those things like mad, I didn't miss once and they were higher lvled than me :P)

Well they didn't fail...they still got it done =P but died in the process. >.<

we did it with a full alliance fo 56-60... only 1 death in our alliance 'coz somehow everyone went for the weapon and 1 of the skeletons and neglected the second one, which went for the mages... it seemed that the skeletons were a lot harder to kill than the weapon... we didn't have any mnks in our alliance.. so it's probably good idea to get a few of those if you were to attempt it....

we had no MNK either, but we all jumped the weapon, and had a PLD two hour the two skelies, they sleepgaed us a few times but the weapon's AoE woke us up, all in all it was only a 2 minute fight =/

Hmm so I'm guessing no one has tried escaping then coming back XD but from the sound of things this battle won't be as hard as I thought it would be so I'll just go for it already :sweat:
