Ok i was on one night and a beggar asked me for gil i had alot from selling a bunch of stuff i got from monster in newb forest.
I gave him some gil and like thanks and then he kept sending my tells asking for gil. Im like cant you get your own gil. Then he said ya but i need more to get gil. So i black listed him. Why did he need me to get him gil cant he do it him self?

Usually those type of people will quit the game in frustration. Either that or learn. When i first played EQ(my first mmorpg experience), I would occasionally ask for money(i wouldnt beg or spam, but if i needed something I would ask for a little amount). Shortly after(like 1 week into it), i realized i could make my own, and that it was just genuinely annoying.

If you teach the beggars how to make money, some might actually be thankful for the advice and do just that. When i first played ffxi, i had no idea or concept of what the ah is. I ended up selling most of my stuff to vendor. After I discovered the ah, it made making gil so much easier.

So much PS2 noob abuse last night in San d'Oria.

Some guy was using /shout and was screaming for people to give him gil.
He stumbled across a DRK in full AF and was like "Hey u B*TCH, u r rich y u dnt give me gil! u greedy i hte ppl like u!"
About 50 people all /slapped him.

Damn, I'm broke as a joke, and I don't ask anyone for gil... not even my own LS. Instead, I do quets and sell stuff at auction. When I'm high enough level, I will mine, fish, craft.

I'm about to spend some time doing quests in Windy to get a new sword... hmm, working for a living, what a thought

I will gil farm for days to get what I want or need. @ times I will get a loan from a good friend of mine and give him a date when I will pay back. I was never late.

The only time that I would borrow a loan is when there is a item or armor that I want but only a few left in AH and I am just short of a few.

Lower lvl can easily farm for couple k's of gils in few hours. Lower meaning 15 below. @ lvl 30, sub a thf (above 5 or 15) and farm orcs.

I don't like people begging for gils, I will be happy to loan out gils to my friends or help out a pty member for a chocoboo ride, but as for random peeps. Not love what so ever.

People said they don't know how to farm and ask for gils, then I would give them ideas, and tell him/her to do some research on FFXI forum. But some just don't like to give time of the day to gil farm, instead they will waste tons of precious hours in front of AH and ask and beg for gils.

>< Some even becomes rude and obnoxious using /tell and /say and /shout.

Never ever give anything to beggars. They'll just come back for more and never learn to get their own gil. Everybody else farmed their gil, why would he be an exception?

This very lucky noob got picked up by my LS and we gave him about 2k gil and a blm scroll as welcome presents. ^^;; But of course he only got invited on credentials and a recommendation.

Runescape was bad because a the bottom of your screen you would see

Richman wants to trade with you
Kittygurl wants to trade with you
Ineedgold wants to trade with you

Over and over and over!!! Ughhh!!! and then you cant even find them in the screen. and if you do they say "I just need some gold" and dont wanna trade anything to you. I only am level 14 in Runescape and only have 1000 gold and crap. I dont even understand the game. Lol.

*hits beggers with sticks* Get away!!!

Ya and when a newb is level 2 and they say they work for the game and want to get me a super strong sword for being so nice but they need my password. Ha ha ha ha ha!!!

i myself s a ps2 noob but i dont have any problems making gil. all u have to do is do the rabbit/bat quest over and over and hunt for crystals then auction them in the early levels (in sandoria). and when u get higher ull want to find a grp and before u know it ull be getting alot of drops which u can either sell or auction and at the same time lvling.

TIBIA!! AHH!! Dont ever make me remember that wasted year of my life. >.>;;; I have no idea what I was high on when I was playing that.

Erm anyway. I never give items to any new players. Its always best to show them how to kill stuff, use AH, etc so they can make their own money. ^^

I've borrowed gil once before, I paid the guy back like an hour later, but it was only 100 gil. I've let some people borrow gil. One was just a pathetic case, a Lv 24 War needed gil. I gave him 500gil, fifteen minutes later an LS member of mine said someone was asking him for gil. I said was it D****. He's like how did you know? There's just too many people not willing to work for their gil. I've hunted those damn Strike Baghnaks for like three days straight just to get some gil.

It annoys me to see this. I am a newb on the PC side. You don't need to beg. Kill some stuff and take the loot to the AH. Check out prices, determine what sells and go get it. I've gotten 2 full stacks of crystals and I am workin on the crawlers for silk.

It annoys me that people feel the need to beg!

Hey if your on the Phoenix server and can spare change..........Ok just kidding:spin: :)

It's a shame that so many PS2 players are making the rest of us look bad. Making gil is simple (if a little time consuming), and the level 1-10 equipment is pretty cheap anyway.

Maybe they should have an "Economics for Dumbies" chapter in the instruction manual...

i am a noob ps2 player and have never asked for money and dont plan to. however i am having probs earning money, could someone tell me some different ways to earn gil. i know about the auction house but i dont think i have anything people want(i.e. bat wings, vulture pinions, etc.). anyway any help is appreciated. i'm in Bastok by the way.

You'll do better with cheap items if you sell in stacks for the time being.

If you're by bastok and ever come across a quadav backplate, sell it at the AHs, they're worth quite a bit to a low level at 1k on my server. If at wind you could sell the occasion silk threads you get for about a 1k.

If you're hunting beastmen(quadav, yagado or whatever, and orc) sub thf. At lvl 5 is gil finder, doubles gil from drops, and at 15 thf gets treasure hunter, it increases drop rates. If you're not a thf, or don't have a subjob yet just use what you have for now, crystals is probably your best bet. Honestly making gil is rough until you get a 20ish character, then you can farm beastmen a bit at a decent pace and do that for a long time. And once your 30+,40+.50+, all the way to the 70s basiclly, more and more options of how and what to farm become available. btw I haven't updated my profile in a while, I'm a 35thf, so I basiclly have 5-7 methods of making good gil. Silk farming, beastmen slaying, ram hunting, stealing coins, crafting(if I farm my own materials), and that's to name a few. Making gil only gets easier, just hang in there for now.

lol, I really like how automaticly the ps2 players are blamed cause they are all new to the game. I played on the PC version and the now the ps2 one, its the same game, through and though. If your getting begged for gil, please dont assume its a ps2er. We're all playing the same game. There was a time when I didnt know how to play either, but I didnt go so far as to ask for money, and just cause I play on a ps2 now doesn't make me a 'n00b' or what ever the 'l33t' geek speak is.

Just last night I had to help a pc user find out how to log off the game cause he didnt know how.

Beggers are beggers, ps2 or PC

A lot of those drops that look worthless people will buy. Most junk in this game can be used in quests or tradeskills. Check the AH before tossing it to a vendor. Also may want to look into some of those quests yourself.

Don't forget to get a signet form the guard before you go hunting.

First begging I agree is bad, but lets be honest it went on long before the PS2 players got in on the action. I think its different if you go to the AH and find yourself short a few gil, then to just beg.
I do however pay for the Taru Taru dance, lol just can't help it. Last week paid 1K for a Taru Taru chorus line.

This begging crap starts up with just one or two of the "non-PS2ers" giving out gil to some PS2ers. They in turn either A) are extremely grateful, buy their level 1, 7, whatever gear and happily learn to do it themselves...or B) never learn and tell other new players "Oh I got all this gil and armor by begging!"

So then you have some of the other new players begging because begging is easier than farming.

I know, it isn't all of the new players. It is a shame that just a few bad apples affects how the rest of the new players are viewed.

Oh, and a word to the wise, learn to use the AH the best that you can. And do not put up your stacks of Fire Crystals for 1 gil. Its great for me, but not great for the seller and everyone else.

I actually bought a couple stacks of fire crystals and silk thread from the same new player (notice I'd rather not call them newbies) for 1 gil each. I laughed so hard about it too.

But, I dropped it in my delivery box for him and got a tell a few hours later. He was very happy to have someone teach him how the AH works. :)

BAH!!! I say there have always been beggers in this game, most of them are delt with fast and furious slappings!!! We see a spike in the begging now but give it 2 weeks the storm will have passed!!!
