Has it been going up or down on your server? On fairy it was down to 40k over a month ago, now it's been steadily climbing and is up to 100k. I'm just curious to see if there are similar trends across the servers. The price is very affordable, but it sure is annoying to buy something and watch it go down by 50% in the next week, so I'm not sure if I should wait or just grab it. I suppose a 40-50k loss isnt that bad compared to some of the more expensive items :dead:

Been going down quite a bit on midgardsormr. Was as much as 360k at one point. Going for 150k now.
That expensive? It is htting 30k on my server O.o

vassagos go for 200K. I was told by a JP said that at one time long ago, it was going for 1 Million gil. :eek:

i bought mine for as little as 9k :sweat:
It's cheap on some servers because it's a common drop from BCNM60. It's expensive on others because they are less populated and not so many people do BCNM60 runs.
In my last 5 runs of the palborough BCNM60, we got 4 scythes.
On Bismarck it was a little more than 100k a month or so ago and has gotten down to 80k recently.

Well that maybe true for others but for Midgards nice explosive economy it doesn't add to much considering how many are able to do bcnm60 and the drop is (always?) there, it dropped to 120k in a week when 18 (highest i noticed) were up for auction, now people are payin 140-150k for the few that are left because they can't wait 2 days..

Midgard's economy has down syndrome. Or maybe it's the people that keep paying more for things, rather than waiting a few days for prices to drop.
about 30k on Gilgamesh, but i bought mine for 50k when supply was low :(

A long time ago I bought mine for 340,001 gil. Shortly after that I shifted servers and saw that on the new server it was about 80-90k.

Okay, I'll humor everyone and answer with, "Because the jp players are able to control the economy."
Let's face it:
-almost 18 mos head start on most NA players
-vast store of knowledge on crafting, NM camping and ... everything
-they have established tight HNM statics, BCNM statics, etc ...
How can you compete with that? However, I'm not blaming them. No way.
I'm blaming ourselves. The NA players that are willing to pay the 200k for each Vassago that enters the AH in Jeuno. Or the 6k for a stack of brass ingots.
But, just because it's price high, doesn't mean we have to pay it. If everyone had ignored the Vassago at that price (350k at start of this year on Midgardsormr), then the scythe would've eventually dropped down. The reason why it's now at 150k (It was 130k about 3 days ago because there were like 14 up for sale - the most I've ever seen) is because of demand. There weren't many high level DRKs about 2 months ago and even now, NA players doing BCNM60 are steadily pushing the price down.
Given time, the economy should be readjusting, but don't hold your breath for items such as a Hauberk, since, again, it comes down to who's controlling the economy.
Any further proof of this? A JP player sold himself (He sold it to himself for some odd reason) a Noble Tunic for 100 million gils. ONE HUNDRED MILLION GILS.
I know several other auctions that show who's in firm command of the market/economy and they are all JP players (Like one player that sold 5 of the last 9 Vermillion robe for about 3 to 3.3 million gils each). Bless the AH history as I'm able to offer proof of such things ;)

I hate our server's economy, we have the most expensive prices out of all servers and it's horrible...JPs are able to control the economy and use us as a profit...what's funny is they refuse to exp with us but they'll use us for their profit, it's like we are their slaves.
I blame NA for bottoming out BCNM prices ; ;
Erase is down to 289k, that is 120k in a month...take an economics class! ><

I dont really see how jps are controlling the price of vassago's seeing as how there's plenty of 60+ NA now able to do BC60, yet the vassago's just climbed 20k this week. I guess perhaps they are all doing BC40, or losing BC60.

I haven't really payed much attention to the price of the scythe on Ragnarok recently, but probably the reason its prices aren't dropping dramatically is there is no competitiveness to sell it quickly.
In other words, there is no need to lower the price to sell the item quicker if you have no other competition.
Only when there are a lot more people selling this item will the price go down... Well,... someone could be insane and buy every scythe and sell them at lower prices ^^;

Are you sure it was 100 million? for some reason my game only allows me to sell at max for 99,999,999 gil.

heh... Refesh was down to 8k on our server Friday of last week... But yeah, enough people are lv.60 now that BCNM60 drops are devalueing. I'd say it's less of a JP problem than a lack of high-level players problem. After all, I know several NA players who are lv.70-75, and plenty of people who have crafting skills capable of making vermillion cloaks, hauberks, cotehardies, etc. But consider their position... If you had a vassago's scythe from a BCNM60 drop, and you knew that someone would buy it for 200k, even if the current price was only 150, wouldn't you wait the extra day to sell? I would...

Having to save for the outrageous cost of Vassago's on our server has kept me from getting any sniper's rings (last time I checked it was 360k, 30k less than a week ago). I know I could farm more, but Ive spent so much time farming I HAD to take a break of I woulda been so burnt out....

Vassago's is 140,000 right now.
Sniper's Ring is 367,000 right now.
You could buy 2-1/2 vassago's for the price of a single sniper. Considering that Vassago's will last you level 58-73, I don't think 140k is so much to ask. R.K. Chainmail is 120k, and most people only wear that for 3 levels. *shrug*

But considering the price on Midgard compared to other servers, it is pretty rediculous >.<. I feel so......naked.....not having Sniper's yet.

Last I checked, Archer's Ring was way more expensive ... are you sure you're not looking at the wrong ring? Sniper's was just 295K last night ...

that's make no sence, archers are always 60kish under sniper's, so why would the archers cost more than sniper's?

I can have 100 people post in here if you like with screen shots of that if you don't believe me. Go check the AH history in Jeuno ... Archer's for some reason is more expensive than Sniper's. Either there's someone who is hoarding Archer's rings and his LS is camping the Chymes 24/7 and they are controlling the price or there's just that many idiots on this server.

LOL... you're too late! I can post the screens a few days before you did this. Hell, I don't have to go back that far, look at the top of Archer's rings which you said, 350K. But, you're late because Sniper's was at one point 295k. Prior to 295k, it was 330k -> in 3 sales went down to 295k. Maybe I shouldn't have waited and begged my friend to borrow money. I have several people that I can ask to come here and testify.
BTW, the only explanation I can give is that someone was trying to push down the price of Sniper's ring (with help of mules or friends). It has been done before and it's nothing new. But when I saw that it was lower than Archer's (It is still only 10k more than the max on Archer's which was only a couple of days back) it was holy hell. Even now at the current price Archer's are way too expensive. You need to be a master craftsmen in leather to make the Sniper's from Archer's and for what? 10~15k in profit? What a load of bullshit ...
BTW, AH History date is Year/Month/Day in case anyone out there didn't know that already. It's not Vana'Diel time either, it's IRL local time (Game calculates out the appropriate date for you automatically)
