I was thinking of something that I think would make FFXI better. Not sure everyone would like it, but wouldn't it be cool to find other Final Fantasy NPC characters like say for instance, Cloud, Zidane, Locke, Tidus, Dagger, etc.
I know it would make possibly no sense whatsoever, but wouldn't you think it cool to see another Final Fantasy character in XI? Or even challenge them to a duel if you have a high enough rank or something? Just wondering what everyone would think about that.

I agree, and I personally think they should have "guest characters" from previous final fantasy games in every new addition to the series.

Sure, but think about it. Has square ever done anything like that before with the main characters, expect Cid and Moogle? No.

You have a good point but FF XI is Squares first shot at an MMORPG and perhaps they should bring in some guests, just to see what people think.

I don't think this is a very good idea. As you stated in your original post that it would make no sense whatever -- that is exactly the problem. In all MMORPG's there has to be a reason why everything happens and it would just be "bizarre" if Square even came up with a plausible reason for it.

Final Fantasy Tactics is a "spin-off" of the Final Fantasy series and therefore doesn't count in that regard.

Yeah, I know, but they could always work 'em in there some way. It'd be nice to see some old favorites on XI. Who knows? Square could put an exact replica of them and change the name in as a sort of easter egg. That'd be pretty funny... :spin: :spin:

They could have an area that is like a tear in the universe where you get warped to different worlds and you walk about in small sections of Midgar (FF7) or the Black Mage Village (FF9) and encounter characters in that way. This way it isn't actually in Vana'diel (think back to FF9 when they entered a gateway through the "shimmering isle" and ended up in another world.) Nothing is impossible when Magic exists in a universe.
It could be done. In time they will need to add extra areas for high level characters maybe this is a possibility in the next expansion disc or something.

You do not have to have a reason for having those characters in this game. But if you insist on having one, then Square can easily make then quest npc's where they would provide a quest for either a useful or non-useful(show off for bragging rights) items. I think it would be quite easy to implement these characters and I know I would actually like to see them.
