Connection Problems

I have this problem i had to re-install ffxi cuz i had to re-install winxp and it needs to re update it updates the playonline viewer fine but when it needs to update ffxi it cant it says connection error well it checks the files first but then its says connection error can any one help me cuz im paying the bill and im getting no ffxi dam
