Blm Af3

Ok, I hit lv60 earlier this week, and I want to plan a BLM AF3 run for when I get back to school. Unfortunately, the best information I can find is as follows:

It seems the problem of the growth of Star Tree is Toraimarai Canal.

In the beginning, to improve magical dolls and trade a 'silk clothes' ("silk") to Dr. Koru-Moru (I-7).

Then go to the Toraimarai Canal and investigate? ? ? At the hollow ON the left wall of the way which is parallel to x axis around H-7.

Then investigate? ? ? At the hollow ON the left wall of the way which is parallel to x axis around I-9 while the effect of 'Magic Pool' ("spring of bewitchment") is ON

Until this process, you had better do alone, because there is a reward for going to the Toraimarai Canal alone and by trading a Rolanberry to Kupipi at the Star's Tower.
You can pass through the streat only with Sneak.

Then and investigate? ? ? In the circle ROOM of J-8. An NM called Magic Sludge, which is a dark elemental appears. Kill it. Then go talk to Chumimi (Koru-Muru? ).

This NM doesn't attack you if you step away after its appearance and though it is active.

It will dissapear in a certain period. So if you have cleared until this part of its appearance and all the PT members with the flag can finish the battle by killing the element only once.


What the HELL does this crap mean? Can anyone tell me how to do all this? I have the quest open where I have to give Kuipipi a rolanberry, and I've completed and cleared AF1 and AF2 (as well as AF4 and AF5, but those are irrelevant). So what, exactly, do I have to do here? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm going to start investigating this in a day or two (as soon as I finish the quests needed to get the Toraimarai Canal map). This is the guide I plan on following (posted by eloah over at ffvault.ign.com):

There are actually 3 places you need to investigate in Toraimarai Canal. First is H-7, 2nd is I-9 and 3rd is J-8. After you inspcet the place at I-9 you get a message that you must use the mages "Black Power" in order to cleanse the area, so basically you need to use Manafont and then immediately inspect the ??? again at I-9. From there it will send you NE towards J-8. In order to get through the 3 mage locked door , you can just trade a Rolanberry to Kupipi and she will give you an item to open the door. However what the guide doesnt mention is you need to have completed the Mission titled "Written in the Stars" from Windhurst

Oh yeah, Atrapos...I am also on Midgard and I was wondering if you would mind if I tagged along when you went to kill the Darkness Elemental/Magic Sludge. Most of my friends are not a high enough level to help on the fight so I would really appreciate if you let me come with you. If your alliance is already full or you don't want to bring a slightly lower lvl player, I understand and won't be offended if you decline.

The information above is correct. After examining the ??? at the last location, a NM called Magic Sludge will appear. It has extremely high physical resistance, so you need to bring quite a few BLMs and RDMs for nuking. I'd suggest AT LEAST 2 BLM + 2 RDM and have a WHM as well. The more mages you got, the safer this battle is. A high level paladin will make this battle very easy.

Midgardplas, I currently don't have anyone that I was planning on taking with me. I'm going to be home for another week (no FFXI here >_<), so it'll be at least a week until I can get this done. If you still need it after a week, I'd be MORE than happy to bring you along, even if after a week you're still lv55. I know how hard blm af's are to get finished, and would be happy to make yours less difficult. If you get it done before the week is up, don't worry, just post how it went/what you did and we'll call it even :P

What about the quests to get the map? Can I just buy it if I'm lazy?

do 4 quests for rycharde in mharua...don't worry, all his quests are easy.

did blm af 3 with 6 blms, 2 whms, 2 rdms, and a 3 pld, drk, and drg. it took me 4 hours to organze the pt but once we did it it was cake.

at the i-9 spot, you have to check it twice. first you check it then it says you must use black mage's power. use manafont (MAKE SURE YOUR MANAFONT IS FREE BEFORE YOU DO AF3) and check it again <----something most often forgotten when doing blm af3.

at the j-8 room, you only need to fight magic sludge once if you're careful. make sure to clear the room first then have all the blms who need af 3 check the ???. after each blm checks the ???, the blm needs to run back to the hall outside before magic sludge aggroes. then repeat with each blm until the last blm who needs af 3 checks it. before you the last blm checks, you may have to kill the respawns or you'll fight them while fighting the magic sludge. this happend to my alliance during my af3 run. had to kill liches before magic sludge disappeared. luckily, by the time we cleared the room, magic sludge was already at half hp (go other 5 blms!) so it was easy. after magic sludge dies, check the ??? again and collect your reward. THE EVER AWESOME WIZARD'S PETASOS!

Little bit out of topic.

Send me a tell if you need another BLM to help destroying any mob, if im looking for pt i will be glad to help. It's very odd that i only get request to help PLD, MNK, etc, but i rarely get asked to help BLM's.

We used to have a big group of BLM's (nsxstasy, cadbury, drece, evangelion, omegamagnus, etc..) do AF's together, most of the time lead by nsxstasy (/wave ma'friend) that is something i would like to preserve, BLM's helping other BLM's.

I need help with farming spots for $$$. :biggrin:

Need like 300k more so i can buy my black cloak (@1.5 lvls away from 68). I really hate to stop my lvling just for farming /sigh.

Currently i am doing a bit of minning (1hr), cooking and fishing all nights before going to bed for like 1-2hrs. But i dont think im getting that much $$ in like 3 days, when ill probably hit 68.

BCNM60 have been average lately, 2xVassago Scythe's each one 130k :mad:.
