I read a thread not too long ago that said there is lag in the game. I have NEVER played an MMORPG that has lag. Unless the lag your speaking of is one person Timing out or going link dead from the server. The only lag ive ever had on MMORPGS would come from an internet connection but my Internet connection is broadband. My question is. Is there jagged lag like you would run into on an FPS? Ive already reserved the harddrive so im stuck in it but i want to know if i am going to be screwed with a laggy piece of poop (No im not saying the game is a piece of poop. But it will be if its jagged laggy. Only my oppinion for you FFXI trolls )

No or very little lag in this game. If you want to experiance lag in a MMORPG try out AC2.

all online games can have lag. being a mmorpg does not make it immune.

that being said, you will run into instances of lag in the game. It's not all the time (actually, for the most part, it's pretty good), but it happens.

No it doesnt make it immune, But being an MMORPG means we are paying for the servers and equipment so the servers should be TOP NOTCH. Unlike servers that run buy and play online like. Unreal tounament and Aliens Vs predator, Socom 2 ETC. So I EXPECT Zero to almost unnoticeable lag.

Im also assuming the FPS on this game stays fairly decent at all times? Just thought id throw another one out there.

Thanks for clearing the lag thing up

I hear there's almost no lag, except when there are a LOT of people in the same place at the same time.

Lag can have several causes.

1. The server not beeing able to answer all requests (should happen rarely)
2. The Client having a program in the background that uses too much bandwidth (your own fault then)
3. A node on the packetroute has a traffic problem without the traffic beeing redirected. Happens a lot. (Internet's fault)
4. The packets have a way to long route to take (ISP's fault)

I'm playing from Germany with a ping of about 300 all the time. The lag itself is not noticeable at all, unless it's really crowded; then sometimes a macro fails to activate. In that case, the right chatfilters help a lot.

SquEnix is upgrading the servers quite often as you will see in the maintenance news of the last few months.

most of the time when someone says they were getting lag is when they were in a heavy populated area (like the AH) which isn't lag..it's just your comp. It's like whenever i'm near a beach my comp slows down pretty good or if i have a bard in the group. It's just my comp can't handle everything (i only scored a 1550 on the benchmark :p)
