Is there a place to go to see how many people are online on each server? I'd love to know the numbers and such.

1. From the menu on the rightward, select Search (?uƒT?[ƒ`?v).
2. From the list on how you want to seach people, select 'By Area' (?uƒGƒŠƒA•ʂɌŸ?õ?v?j.
3. From the list from which area you want to search people, select 'All Areas' (?u‘SƒGƒŠƒA?v).
4. You can tell how many people are online on the server from the log.

I actually meant how many people are currently playing ffxi, not how many people are on the boards that play the game.

you can run also the query /sea all and even though themenu will only show the first 14, the system will give you two lines of code in the command line. in the first line, you'll see the term "XXXXΩ"...XXXX represents the current server population. Most I've ever seen is about 3200 on Ragnarok

There is not such a site, I think.
Because There is no way to know how many players are in servers from outside FFXI.
and,Even if it is those who are playing FFXI, his favorite server cannot be chosen in the state of the beginning.
And the state of the beginning, there is only one character slot. (Whenever it adds a character slot, the charge of the monthly amount of 100 yen is added)
Probably, it will be impossible for getting to know all servers' number except a rich guy.
(There are 25 servers now)
But, I heard numbers in servers are adjusted so that it might always become about 5000 less.
BTW,
seen 4100 peoples in Ragnarok server at yesterday.

That's pretty sweet. See, most other mmorpgs have a place where you can check that... well not most others, but eq used to, and daoc and ac2 have them, e&b does not.
I was just curious as to how many people were on total at a time on all servers, and how low some servers might get sometimes.
