Ok... here we go, yet another question from moi.
So, todays question is: Ok, i finally decided to import the game, bla bla bla... So what if I start playing, get really attached to my character(s), but as this happens, I notice that the NA version finally has a release date, and its... April or something. From what I heard, and remember... we are going to be playing on the Japanese servers. Now...I would of course want to get the NA version. So I do it, and install the package on my PC. Here is the question...!!! Would I be able to use my account that I have been using for so long with the Japanese version, on the NA version?

I would think - yes I would, since the data of my username and password is saved on their servers, and since the NA version will run off of Japanese servers, I would be able to continue on with my character(s) using the NA version.

Tell me if I didn't explain very clearly...

no, the NA version will have seperate servers that the client will communicate with and characters will be stored on. it's possible, thought highly unlikely, that someone with some hacking ability to use the NA version with the japanese servers if they new the addresses to those servers.

But for all practical purposes, no.

actually, i think we'll be playing on the same servers.

the closed beta test that square is doing tests the japanese FFXI servers from North America. That's gotta mean that they're testing the stability and quality of the of the servers for connection from America...right?

i could be wrong, but since they're beta testing with the japanese servers, that's gotta mean something, right?

If you figured out how the servers are rotated and the World Pass system works, it is possible that with the NA Client you can log on to a Japanese server via a World Pass.

Square apprently puts up a certain set of servers on rotation amongst the servers you can go on. And as the servers fill, new servers are added, and old servers are put out of the rotation.

But it does not mean you can not get on an older server, since you can get a world pass to do so.

So, it is likely that you can still go on Ragnarok with an NA Client or any of the Japanese servers with the NA Client.

The only big question mark is the ability to use a Japanese client created account to play on a North American client program. But personally, I believe it should be able to as it is just a matter of logon and such.

Heck, many MMORPGs have different language clients and have servers around the globe; but the clients can log on to which ever server and can interact.
