Yo, im in this dilemma right now
which one should i use?
Wise Wizard Anelace 34 dmg +14 atk
or
Saber 36 dmg
i rotate my spell castings and melee with a wand so dont tell me "rdms dont melee"
Actually, I recommend the Royal Guard's Fleuret if you can afford it for a level 55 sword. Its D33 Delay 215 Accuracy +6 Parry +5.
The Wize Wizard's Annelace is an excellent, hard hitting short sword and the +14 attack isn't anything to slouch at. The Fleuret is very nice because its a very fast sword that has a nice boost to accuracy - which helps you level the skill much easier in parties. I usually use the Fleuret in PT when I'm able to melee, swapping with a Tactical Magician's Wand MP+5 INT+5 MND+5 for casting in the back row. The Wize Wizard's Annelace, however, is my farming tool of choice because of the excellent damage and speed it does to weak mobs.
If you're tied to an income, the Saber is probably your best bet, but if you can save up - I'd definately get the Fleuret as its usefulness is greater.

I agree with Arli about her choice. Although depends on the race of course. And ... sand is now for the 3rd time last in conquest $#)$&#)!$! I am about to get my rank6 but won't help is Sand is always last!

I recommend R.G. Fleuret, too... :P
Boosting our accuracy is most important when we melee because:
1) we fight with VT or stronger while leveling.
2) our sword skill is rated "B."
3) we don't want to waste 12MP of En- spells.
In fact, there aren't a lot of weapons give us such a huge accuracy bonus other than R.G. Fleuret around LV55.
Along with AF gloves (DEX+4 = Accuracy +2), Balance Buckler (Accuracy +3), Coral Gorget (Accuracy +3), Life Belt (Accuracy +10), and a set of Ametrine Ring (DEX +4 = Accuracy +2), we boost total 26 accuracy (These are all inexpensive). I don't think we miss a lot with these gears until we go beyond LV60.
As for your original question, I'll take Saber because it is [D] of weapons that determines base damage. Especially, when we engage with VT or stronger ones, base damage is more important than our ATK.
With respect to their delay, W.W Anelace is faster but think of how long it usually takes us to beat each one. It's around 60 - 90 seconds. So, how many times can we swing them then? Suppose it takes us 90 seconds for each battle.
Saber: 90 [seconds] / (240 / 60) = (90 x 60) / 240 = 22.5 = 22 [times]
W.W. Anelace: 90 [seconds] / (226 / 60) = (90 x 60) / 226 = 23.89 = 23 [times]
There isn't a big difference between them. Also, we have to consider we spend some time on casting both buffs and debuffs. Therefore, it doesn't mean we can always hit them 22 times or so. That's why I take Saber for a little more damage.
P.S.
It is rumored that weapons have their LV based on [D]. They are said to be a multiple of 9... I am not sure about this though.

cool responses thanks,
i was researching around and i see a lot of AF Rdms wearing RG fluerets, but the dmg difference was so big, hittiing with a dmg flueret wont even matter, i was thinking more towards farming uses for a sword.
how much does a +3 accuracy acutally add?
i got balance buckler once i hit 40, can someone do an experiment or paste me an existing experiment on how much difference +3 accuracy adds? thanks
also dagger, any recommendations for that? i want to skill up with that too :P
(im lvl 50, i dont want to mess with ryl squire's dagger :P)
