System: Japanese PS2 w/ broadband. Have played w/o problems since June/Jul 2002.

My main character just froze on Soromouge 2 days ago. This is the 3rd time that this has happened. I called a GM with my storage character. GM suggested that I reinstall the game.

I re-installed the main game then Jirat. Everything seems to be working fine. I have a problem when the game tries to version-up. It keeps freezing at the following:

36. Checking DAT
Remaining Files: 3031/3926 22% complete

I have had a freeze over 10 times at this point. I tried re-nstalling many times. I also tried to kust re-install the main game and start, but I get frozen at 22% mark. POL works fine. Can anyone help me out?

I got it working again. I had to do a clear install meaning I lose all my markers on map and lose all macros (RDM, SMN, BLM, THF). This sucked but now I'm back on. Now to re-do all my macros. :(

dam that sucks, you could've saved your markers and macros in windows with an offline macro editor (ffxiutilpuls) or just by going into the pol folder and backing it up before you re-installed.

Please note that I specify PS2 and not PC. Yes, I am playing FFXI on a Japanese PS2.
