im going to install the game soon, but i would like to know where to put the tcp/udp numbers below. Im not very technical, so a step by step response of where to put the numbers will be mostly appreciated.

from playonline.com
---
+ Port numbers that may be used by the PlayOnline server group:
-TCP 25, 80, 110, 443 or 50000 - 65535
-UDP 50000 - 65535

* You may need to set up a web browser for your PC. For more information, please refer to the appropriate vendor's instruction manual.

* Your router may require that you use a PC to configure your network settings. For more information about how to configure your network settings, please refer to the instruction manual that came with your router or contact the manufacturer directly.
---

Unfortunately i cant provide a screenshot, but it has something to do with public port, private port, port type and host ip adress in my router's virtual server config. I know i have to put the numbers in there somewhere, but i dont know exactly where.

just thought i'd mention this: my router doesnt have a firewall (ive got a software one already), so maybe i might not need to input the tcp/udp port numbers...

ive looked at the sticky topic in the setup forum, but my router's config only has private port (enter data), private port (enter data), port type (select either tcp or udp) and host ip address (enter isp's ip address)

im not sure if i even have to configure it to begin with, but i just want to make sure.

Is your router just splitting the connection for additional computers for internet? If so then you probably don't have to. I played FFXI just fine from behind a firewall in a networked connection through a router (or somethin don't remember maybe Akirhol knows :p )

the same thing here. i'm connecting on CATV connection w/ private ip address, and a rounter spreads it to 6 pc's within a house. without doing those ports settings nor DMZ, my ffxi hasn't had a problem.

and if u want the answer for the original question anyways, i suggest that u provide the manufacture and model, especially that u couldn't provide the screen shot.
