Before I start playing FFXI I have a question that needs to be answered. I am planning on being a Black mage/White mage. I am wondering if i will lag alot during the game, in battle and out of battle. My specs of my computer and my internet are as follows....
internet- Aol 9.0 optimized 56k
computer-amd 3000+ 2.1ghz
512 ram
and a radeon 9600xt video card.
any help would be appreciated....thank you very much

Looks like you got a nice machine, they only thing that will hold you back is your connection and even then lag is not bad. My two best friends who almost every weekend stay the night at my place bring there machines one hooks up to my high speed and other to my land line cause he dont have a eathernet card. He hardly ever lags from what I can tell. You shouldnt get bad lag so dont worry about it, from what i can tell most lag in this game is caused by the PC not being powerful enough, and from the specs you listed your computer should be just fine! :)

I hate to say it but you're internet is no better than regular dial-up..why you ask? because like this and all other "fast dial-up's" is a simple method...say you surf the net...and go to a site that rarely updates..wahlaa it's super fast..why? because every site you access the internet...in a way takes a snapshot of the page..and as long as it never updates it'll stay fast because the ISP has it memorized...but guess what happend the first time the site updates...woohooo talk about lag..." up too 5 times faster"....you're game will look pretty...but will lag like no tommorow

No it wont lag. Like i said, my buddies on dial up, on AOL 9.0 mind you have lag yes but we all get lag, they may get it a little more often but it really is not all that bad. I played on dial up for 1.5 months before i got my highspeed and i didnt lag either, onlt reason i got highspeed is cause i do gfx desighn so i push a lot of data and images over the net. Yes you will lag on dial up, no its not bad lag, you will lag more yes, but its not that bad.
