So is it true that if you want to send a friend a tell you need to purchase a link shell, also how does this game stack up to games like everquest for ps2 and pc?

awesome thanx for the info, my brother was trying to tell me otherwise but what does he no, anywho i was hoping and suspecting this game would rock more than eq for ps2 so thank u again for the reassurance
LS are like personal chat channels for a group...
You get a bag of link pearls and give them out to friends you want to keep in contact with...
It's like a big /tell to a group of people... hehe.

oh heres another question that i had forgotten to ask is there certain lvl requirments for pieces of armor, for example lets say wana wear bronze helm, do you have to be a certain lvl to wear it?

Yes, armor has level and job requirements to wear it. So you cant "twink" like you could in EQ.

thats good cuz twinkin a lvl 5 char or somethig like that takes the fun out of the game for players who cant afford to do that kind of stuff

my one question to you is, have u played EQOA for the ps2?
i have pretty high expectations for this game because of my good experiences with EQOA. i'm figureing a Linkshell is like a Guild on EQOA.
I'm not saying that FFXI wont achieve my expectations, in fact... i'm pretty sure it will probably surpass it. With a much more detailed job/class system, and more in-depth storyline... this game is gonna rock. Now if only I can get one reserved:sweat:

Yeah ive played EQOA for ps2. The linkshell is basically ffxi's guild. I've only seen the game a couple times on PC, but i played EQOA a decent amount and already I can see this game is SO much better than EQ. Theres like 3 times the people on, EQOA there were never enough people around. Make the switch in March it will be worth it. I can't wait for the ps2 release so I can get it for myself

Oh and about reserving the game, I checked online the other day where I have mine reserved at EB.com. You can still pre-order to have it shipped release day. You can get overnight shipping which is like 10 bucks, and get it the same day that retail stores get it. (Remember, March 23 is the shipping day, stores will have it March 24, and so can you.)

hey thanx for the low down on the release date ive been hearing all sorts of wierd stuff of when its coming out so u can purchase it at a store on the 24th eh? also i have eqps2 and at first i loved that game and now i think its so insanely boring theres so little u can do everyone looks the same the graphics even with the expansion pack could be better, and theres just not that much room to make ur character more unique like ffxi

I also have mine reserved ( At Gamestop) however I went to EBGames and the guy there told me that if I had not reserved it that I would might not have a chance to get it when it first comes out on store shelves in March.

all i got to say is i have a copy reserved at eb near where i live and as long as i get it sometime within the expected self release date thats all that matters, although i really would like to get it asap. But i would be happier knowing that i have a copy of the game gauranteed to be in my grubby little hands, than not at all

alright this next question i have is getting a little off the subject of ffxi release date, but i was wondering what stats would i want to raise to make a more effective heal, and what stats would i want to raise for a more effective nuke, and stats would i want to raise to give me more mp?

ok heres another question, do crystals drop only off of bosses or do the drop off of various monsters like just kind of rare drop that could come off of anything

As long as you have your nation's signet cast upon you, the area you are in is controlled by your country, AND the monster provides you exp (basically as long as it is NOT "Too weak to be worth while" on the check) you will get crystals (or atleast you should)
You dont ALWAYS get one under the above circumstances but those have to be met for it to work. This is also assuming that you are soloing not in a party.
As for the requirements when in a party, I have an idea but dont want to give false info, so I'll leave it up to someone who knows

In FFXI your stats automatically increase as you level up...

Can get crystals as long as area is not beastmen controlled and you have a signet on.
In addition to gaining stats as you level, can also boost with gear and food.

Equipment wise. I think the type of stat boosts you will want to look for out of your accessory equipment will be +MND as a WHM. I may be wrong, I always get MND and INT confused between BLM and WHM.

Signet is a Magic spell cast on you by the people standing by the exit gates in a particular city or at outposts/homepoints along the way. It does wear off eventually.

You lose 10% of the amount you need to next level in that job - so if I'm at lvl 20 and need 4,600XP to get to level 21, by dying i'd lose 460XP. If I only had 300XP, then I'd level down to lvl 19 :(
Hope this helps.
