How much fame do you need?

Ive got high enough fame to get the summon quest,but im still no town hero.
So whats the point to keep working on it?
Whats the rewards?

One reward is that NPC pay you more money if you are selling, and give you items cheaper if you are buying. Its only 10% to 20% reduction, but it adds up. Buying my pickaxes for 180 gil apiece now, used to be over 210.

Another reward is that certain quests only open up if you have the fame for it. Especially the Jeuno gobbie bag quests that increase the size of your inventory. As Jeuno fame is the average of the fame you have in the three starting cities, you need to collect either a bit of fame everywhere, or a lot of fame in one city to get these quests.
