ok I'm looking for a way to raise up cash for my chainmail set. Not general money making tips. I just ned to know some good fairly quick money making techniques that dont require a craft or fishing. I'm not a wizard so I cant teleport. I'm in sandoria so mostly I'd like to know what monsters to farm, and I'd like to know of some repeatable quests I can use to make money. Thanks

haven't played FFXI yet, but in other MMORPG's i just xp A BUNCH!!! and pick up as much as I can from what they drop, then sell it. This is a solid way to make money, but it does take awhile. But hey, money is money.

N. Sandoria, right at the gate that goes into the blacksmith guild. There is a guy just as you enter who asks for the bat wings. The quest is warding off darkness, or something like that.
@malachi_gage:
heh. you are in for a surprise.

not at all. You rarely find a good drop in this game from normal monsters. You wont ever find wepaons or armor from a regular monster. its extremly hard tomake money. Its not at all like eq

At your level I sugget going inot Fort Ghelsba and farm the orcs above the elevator(not Cursemakers, Sergents, or Fighters though as they are too hard for 25). I've made 20k in a day casualy farming this area. Sub Thf for the gilfinder(level5 skill) and you'll be rolling in 20-50 gil a pop. Also any equipment you might find while killing the orcs, sell to the vendors for some decent cash ranging from a mere 100gil to 1kgil.
Hope this helps out,
Raiyu~

But hey, money is money. Unfortunately this doesn't work as well in FF XI as in some other MMORPGs. For the following reasons:
- Most monsters people fight for exp tend to be amoung the easiest for their level (crabs, bats, beetles, worms) which don't have much good stuff (a little) and leave the more lucrative ones alone (orcs, goblins, yagudo, quadav). There are non-beastmen which drop okay stuff, but those tend to be outdoors and the best exp tends to be indoors (although there are of course exceptions).
- Even when you do hunt beastmen, unless you have a 15+ thief main or sub monsters drop stuff much less often. Same for Gil. And with a 45+ thief stuff drops even more often. But most people don't sub thief in parties, only when pharming for gil. A few classes do , but not a lot.
Because you can change job at any times, and farming jobs don't always have to be super high, people tend to use their most exp efficient jobs exping and save their gil farming combinations for gil farming.
Personally I exp to exp and then I find a low level area of beastmen (or other decent loot dropping mobs) for me to slaughter. Leveling does help my gil because I can kill higher level stuff faster for better drops. But I don't make much gil just leveling.

Change jobs to one of your lower level jobs and go level up in an area where you'll get lots of wind and fire crystals as drops. I'm from Sandoria, and I prefer to go level up a lower level job in the Ghelsba Outpost (once I hit about level 5 or so). You can easily gather 2-3 stacks of fire crystals just leveling up one job to level 9-10 in Ghelsba. You can sell each stack for probably 1500-1600 gil. On top of that, you will receive gil for each Orc you kill. The Cheiroptera (bats) and Spectacled Bats will drop wind crystals, and the Watch Lizards and Orcs will drop fire crystals.
If you level up your thief job to at least level 5, you'll increase the amount of gil you receive with each Orc kill (gil finder). You can get treasure hunter at level 15, but that means you will have to go PT and level up in a group to get there, most likely.

A fairly fast way to make money from my experiences is to buy poison scrolls from the Magic shop in Port sandy and sell them for alot more in the AH, this works on almost every item that you can attain via an NPC shop because most people are too lazy to check for other prices...
The glory of a PC built economy is that you can alter it by doing a small part... ^_^
So now that that is said... I hope some people will start looking around for items and stop making AH prices so damn high! *HINT HINT HINT!!!*

Don't sell bat wings to that guy if you just want money. Instead, go to King Ranperre's tomb by going south from East San D'oria.
Keep killing bats at the start of the tomb, and inside the cave, looking out for goblin butchers if your a lower lvl.
Stack the wings into twelves and sell them in the auction house. Look at the prices first though, so you will know what to sell them for.
Also, go to a gate gaurd who has T.K in his name, and have him cast signet on you.
Now go to Ghelsba from West San D'oria, head north west.
Kill lizards, orcs and bats here, but watch out for the stonelaunchers if your a lower lvl.
Also, in the caves around here, you can kill the fungaurs if you have a lvl around 12, thus picking up dark crystals.
Stack all these into twelves and sell these at the auction house just as you did with the bats wings.
Oh yeah, almost forgot...If your a higher lvl, say maybe 14...go to the Kings tomb, and wait until nightfall, then a ghost will apear, kill this and if your lucky, it will drop a traveller's mantle, which sells at the auction house for about 12000 gil.
It really kinda depends on the server your on too, plus prices raise and fall all the time, since some people sell lower, making other sellers have to lower their prices too.
