What is Kaomoji?

I am quite sure it has to do with typing in Japanese....but what major significance does it have? This is regard to the reply of the pc now being equal to PS2. Maybe, I missed the sarcasm.

Any replies would be very appreciated.

if you play on Ps2, you can type "kaomoji" in japanese and get a list of smiling face you can choose from. something like this -> (=?L?Þ?M=) (you won't see it if your encoding isn't japanese)

the PC version doesn't have it. now with the file in that site we can finally use kaomoji on our PC ( ^-^)_’U?`?@

Does this work on other programs like web browser IME inputs to mails, other than using this on FFXI?

it works on everything.

if you know how "kanji" in japanese input works... kaomoji works exactly the same. Type "kaomoji" in japanese and press space-bar and you will get all faces to choose.

Now the question is where to find a kaomoji support file for my Japanese IME in Mac OS 9...

I've manually enabled Japanese text support in most of my Mac OS applications that didn't have it by default, like iTunes, but I can't find much of anything relating to kaomoji (face characters/text) for the OS...

btw, if anyone get tired of those FFXI kaomojis... here's more.. enjoy.

I'm guessing this only works if you've got FFXI with Japanese input, and set up your computer likewise for J-input?

In other words, for importers only?

If you have the japanese text input moethod installed for your version of Windows, it will work with any program that accepts entry of Japanese text. Since the NA version of FFXI doesn't accept entry of Japanese text, you need the JP version to use the kaomoji in FFXI. If you only have the NA version, you can still use kaomoji on these boards and put them in your macros from an external editor...
