Jobs and subjob???

i have a question about jobs and sub jobs.

Say you are a Dragon knight as your main job and they can use spears and you put samurai as sub.

So my question is can you have dragon knight who carries a katana?

only if you can find a katana that has Dragoon as an allowed job to be equipped... I don't think there are any SAM/NIN/DRG Great Katanas though (but then again, I don't know every item in the game).

you can use a great katana if you were to go Dragoon/Samurai, BUT (thats a big but:biggrin: ) you can only use a katana that is up to date with your samurai sub job.

Ex/

Lvl 20 Dragoon/10 Samurai <-----sub job is always half of your main job.

You will only be able to use lvl 10 great katanas, hope it helps^^

I'll need to try that out... I could have sworn that as mnk/war I couldn't ever equip swords...

sorry to burst your bubble but you can only equip gear of your main job! there are no Great Kitanas that Drg can use but Samurai is pretty proficent in polearms so you could play Sam/War and use both great kitana and pole arm.

Mantronic is completly right. What you equip is determined by your Main Job. Your subjob has no say at all on what you can equip. However the advantage some subjobs give you is their abilities and any that add shield, parry, guard, and evasion all those skills will carry over for you. So if you have high shield, parry, and guard combat skills from another job and sub it you get those skills to assist your main.

So with a WHM/RDM combination you get parry that you can use with a club or staff providing little extra help in defense if you are lucky. They will help a Mage class to have the shield, parry, or guard skills but it'll only be a small amount of help may not bee of much use.

when you have warrior as a main job you get a defence bonus so do you get to keep the bonus forever or just when you has it as your main job?

You get passive traits if:
1: Your current job has the trait and required level.
2: Your sub has the trait and required level. Your sub will be at highest half the lv of your current main job)
