Bard Equipment by level

I have found some great information on this site but one thing I am curious about is what to buy for my bard in terms of armor, rings, etc. For example for levels 1-20 so far I am just resusing a lot of my old WHM equipment. Can an experienced bard comment say by levels what we should have?

Example:

Level 1-10 : does not matter
Level 10-20: buy..

etc.

Would greatly appreciate it.

could you be a bit more specific? there are 75 lvls in the game and there are multiple different race types affecting what equipment you should be using. Also the amount of money you have plays a big factor. just scroll down this forum and you will see lots of suggestions for what equipment you should use

In almost all armor slots, you have the options of going with DEF or MP (or HP if you like the taru RSE). I have personally stuck with DEF the whole time, as even though it doesn't help a whole lot in a group setting, it makes BRD's poor soloing ability a little less noticeable when you have 200+ def unbuffed.

If you are a human, elvaan, galka, mithra, etc: the respective RSE armors are very, very nice for BRD.

Besides the 4 main armor slots, there is among the very cheap, everyone should own items:

Cornette +1 (instrument) - Lv4 +2 minuet
Bird Whistle (neck) - Lv15 +3chr
Noble's Ribbon (head) - Lv15 +3 chr +3 resist all
Mary's Horn (instrument) - Lv17(?) +1 Lullaby
Wolf Mantle +1 (back) - Lv28 5def +3 resist all
Traversiere +1 (instrument) - Lv32 +2 madrigal
Pearl Rings - Lv36 +2 chr each
Moon Armlets (hand) - Lv38 8def +8mp
Corsette (belt) - Lv40 4def 5chr -2str -2agi
Enhancing Earring - Lv40 +5hp +5mp
Electrum Rings - Lv40 +20mp -20hp
Aurora Mantle - Lv44 +resists +10mp
??? Horn +1 - Lv52 +2 elegy
Jester's Cape - Lv54 5def +7chr
??? Rings - Lv54 +3chr

Mary's Horn is a little more expensive, but I consider it a must have after level 40 or so. If you can't afford some of the items on the above list when you reach those levels, you need to farm gil.

Bigger (nicer) investments:
Astral Rings - Lv10 convert 25hp to 25mp (last thing you should buy)
Monster Signa (staff) - Lv18? +8chr +mp +hp -vit
Corsette +1 - Lv40 5def +6 chr -1 str -1agi
Jester's Cape +1 - Lv54 6def +10chr

The bottom 4 are things you _should_ be working on, as they are all endgame equipment so why not buy them when you can? Aside from the corsette +1, these are all relatively expensive. Cape +1 is like 200k, monster signa is 340, astral rings about 160, and corsette+1 is about 60.

Thanks for the information was just what I was looking for. With WHM and BLM I knew exactly what to buy but with BRD was no sure. I am a taru BRD so I will look for DEF up and HP up items.

I'm level 39 and I purchased the Gambison body armor a couple levels ago. Seems pretty solid, and I like the look. Cost me 7.5k I think

Cloak woot! I'm level 41 and I still use my trustworthy level 34 cloak. ( only because im hella broke. ) But, im sure there is a level 40 robe that adds like 10 mp. That seems like a better choice.

With a lot of luck and some great help I got all RSE pieces, will milk that until AF stuff. Got the noble ribbon too, 25k :-( but it is a nice item.

The Royal Squire Robe looks like a nice upgrade for my Frost Robe, once I reach level 40.

Got a mer. cap. belt yesterday got 9k, damn thing adds +1 to everything including CHR, it is a lv 30 item, very nice belt.

Once you hit 40 though, throw a Corsette +1 on your waist and don't look back.
