Ive seen level 50 DRGs running around with SCALE MAIL ( LEVEL 10 ). Seriously now, when you get the agro on you, you are screwed. Explain me, why?

Well, there is steamed scail mail (lvl27) that looks exactly like the lvl 10 scale mail but has better def than (lvl 24) chainmail. I've never seen anyone wear it past lvl 35 though, where people usually get the lvl 30 CP armor.

I find it hard to belive your statement that you saw anyone wearing lvl 10 scale mail at lvl 50. A SLIGHT exaggeration to get your point across or do you have some screenshots? ;P

Dragoons are unable to wear heavy class type armor. Therefore, they can only stick to the medium and light style armor.

the only armour drgs ever need is their AF and maybe a scorpion harness later on

ideally if your tank is not teh sux you will not be getting hit
realisticly if you ARE getting hit then your party is in deep deep doo doo no matter what kind of armour you got on

I'd agree. Wearing Scale mail at 50 is weak : wear a Brigandine. I don't totally agree with DRG who say nothing but their weapon matters since they shouldn't be tanking. Fact is you are a high damage dealer which means on occasion you WILL be hit, so you should use some sense in armor selection. Also tons of armor slots have nice stat boosts to make you a better damage dealer, why wouldn't you use them?

If you absolutely never ever get hit, it either means your tank is amazing, or you aren't doing enough damage to actually merit being hit and kill slow enough to have Super Jump and High Jump reset every single fight.

i donno, the tiger/feral armor has alot of attack on it. It would seem more efficient to wear it during regular melee, and switch out AF for the effects when needed(equip switches in macros for jump etc)

Personally, I think having good armor is more important than having a great weapon. If you can have good armor and a good weapon and the tank does his job you should be fine...but not all tanks do their jobs now do they? ;)

I've seen level 6X rangers in full Lizard armor, and level 3X rangers wearing -no- armor... in a PTs. One had a fungus cap.

one reason for the 3x rangers not to be wearing armor is for the inventory space, so they can stock more ammo. Personally, if I were to skimp on armor, I'd at least wear the body and leg pieces.

hi,

if you tank does not suck then you wont be getting hit, full stop

paladins have more than enough skills , spells to never ever lose aggro on most mobs. hell even when Caglomera the samurai of sux is tanking i rarely ever draw aggro for any extended period of time.

even if you tank does suck you can still budget your high and super jumps so you will only take 1 or 2 hits per fight at the most.

i'm not saying go around naked, i am saying that if the choice presents itself always buy weapons first , stat gear second and armour last

as a drg i can say that it isnt to uncommon to see dragoon knights in lower lvl armor. i am currently a lvl 31 drg with lvl 21 armor on. an whats crazy. is im fighting in the jungles of kazaam. some pt's i do tank an pull an i do it well, while in other pt's i dont get hitor if i do its so few, that updating armor is not worth ti to me.

an it also may seem odd, but armor does take a backseat to us. its not important as a new weapon, or new stat items. my best example of this is the mage. would you rather see a well equipped white mage, or a white mage with all the latest spells? the white mages know armor an weapons take a backseat to the spell scrolls, so there you have it mystery solved!

I probably won't be buying any new armor for a long while, only things that outboost my atk/acc more than what I have would cost too much. Don't care about def as a damage dealer, especially not a DRG damage dealer, can jump off any hate I get as long as there isn't a THF around, and/or the tank is just horrible. -.-

At level 46, I'm wearing a mix of low level and high level stuff, only for stat boosts and atk/acc.

Obelisk Lance +2 str
Mercenary Capt. Headgear +1 str +1 dex
Spike Necklace +3 str +3 dex
Brigandine +10hp +2 dex
Battle Gloves +3 acc
Sword Belt +10 atk
Bastokan Subligar +3 atk
2 Balance Rings +4 dex (using these until i get my subs levelled)
2 Beetle +1 earrings +6 atk
---------------

So far, +6 str, +10 dex, +19 atk and +3 acc, so that works out to +22 attk, +8 acc.

My def is worthless, but I don't need def to do my job, which is to do a lot of damage. My PLD keeps the hate well, so I'm pretty safe...

Just a side note, is there a glove you can equip to replace the almighty battle gloves b4 you get your AF?

By the way, I have On to date armor, but its because its the mercenary gears and they give all a stat boost, only still using the battle gloves

There is really nothing thats better than Battle Gloves. Not worth using centurion's cuz 1 dex < 3 accuracy and so on. I think almost all DRG use Battle gloves til AF. After AF gloves the only real upgrade I've seen is something with 2 accuracy (Bracers+ 1 or Battle Bracers +1..something).
