Elvaan As Dragoons

Considering that I don't even have the game, this is perhaps a premature question, but I was just wondering about the upsides and the downsides to using an Elvaan as a Dragoon. I know it's an advanced job class, but I just want to be sure before I pick an Elvaan over a Hume. I know that you really can make any race any class, but I just guess I wanted some input from the people already inhabiting Vana`Diel.

Well, most Dragoons I know swear by accuracy over strength, thus, Mithra makes a good Dragoon, but lacks in str, an Elvaan would lack Dex, but have good Str. Both would buy items to cover thier weaknesses. Thus, it is my opinion that an Elvaan dragoon with +dex and +acc would be as strong as any.

Check out that thread above, and look for Awntawn's comments. This is for DRK, but it also easily applies to DRG. I have an Elvaan DRG, btw, and am using every dex/acc item I can get my hands on.

Also, in the December update, the accuracy for physical attacks has been supposedly increased for high level characters.

Well, I suppose that makes sense...no matter what may be lacking for your character, you can always get a hold of equipment to balance that out. The more I think about it, though, I'm probably going to take a Hume, and aim for (later down the road), a Dragoon/Black Mage. With that in mind, I suppose my question got answered, but thanks for linking me to Awntawn's (very explicit and helpful) posts.

Oh, and by the way, March 24th, anyone who might be looking for a DRG/BLKM...my schedule will probably be open. :thumbsup:

Don't forget, SanD'Oria, Capital city of the Elvaan, is also home to the order of Dragon Knights ^^

go with elvaan, you'll look alot cooler. the low agil won't be too much of a problem, as you won't get hit much, and will have great hp's/vit anyways

the low dex... well, dragoons have good natural dex, plus accuracy boost as a job ability.

getting your way to dragoon, you will probably be a warrior, and elvaan make the finest warriors.
