the funniest thing i've ever seen:

level 15 taru whm/blm in valkurm, underleveled sub (reeks of n00b)
brags to the group about getting up to exp chain #18 (#5 is pretty tough and #6 is a damn challenge)
decides that our level 15 party is ready for IT pugils so he runs to pull one...comes back with an IT pugil AND a bogy

so we left his ass to die...then booted him :biggrin:

A clearly underaged player running around town hitting on EVERY SIGNLE female player. Even after being shut down over and over, then things got ugly..since no "cbhicks" would talk to him he started forcing himself on anything that looked female with sexual emote...very poorly structed...after being told countless times to stop finally someone called a GM and reported him for harassment....and every "cbhick" he talked to also join in and reporting him...I'm asuming his account got banned which is sad because it looked like he'd just started, lvl 1 war with all his newbie stuff equipped..why was it funny you ask? because after being warned he threatend that he would hack a GM's computer if they jailed him and clearly knows nothing about MMORPG'S and the fact their played on servers

A level 22WHM/(random number below 11)BLM arguing with me and a friend about playing WHM properly and not wasting MP. He claimed he was a level 50 WHM on another server, but deleted it. When he did that, I went into a nice long explination on what a level 50 WHM should have learned (speaking from personal experience) on the subjects of MP Conservation and Hate Management.

Curagas in battle is a nightmare for a level 22PLD. Especially when the only people that needed healing were only short less than 50 HP after getting hit by an area attack....and even then, it was only 3 melees (myself included). After a few minutes, he said that he wasn't really a level 50 WHM on another server...

A less annoying experience I had was while leveling in Altepa. I had arrived at the place we were going to camp in Western Altepa Desert before the PLD and RNG were there. I started casting invis on the two people on chocobos waiting with me at the camp. They got a lot of "What?!" reactions when they ran amok, even from level 42's.

Guess they've never seen an invisible person on a chocobo before, it's one of the great joys of the invisible spell. (That and summoning something and casting invis on yourself.)

sorry for this not being WHM related but... a PT i was in was largely Taru and there were other taru around and we posed for a group picture (a few mithra plus 6-7 taru), it was great to see so many taru doing the panic dance together... :thumbsup:

oh and another thing, not to bash this or any WHM, i was once in a PT w/ 2 WHMs back when i was lvling war, and they would always wait till the last minute to heal but it was all in good fun and it kept my attention on the battle :sweat: ..

another non-WHM related, as a lvl 15 war i was in a full pt and we were at bubu pen. hunting snippers and then decided to try a shoal pugil and i pulled it.

Shoal Pugil hits Rawls of 8x damage.
Shoal Pugil hits Rawls for 9x damage.
Shoal Pugil hits Rawls for 8X damage.
Shoal Pugil defeated Rawls.

well the funniest moment thats happend to me by far was this.......

i was bout lvl 37 drg with a pt of a ninja, whm, blm,blm,rng we were lvling in the citadel

well as you can see we had no real tank (and by that i mean high def) , so the ninja be presumably tanking (with blink, copy image the usual)

Well, back to the story.... it was all going well we were getting good exp till bout an hour in, the rng pulls some mob i dont remember which one, i think it was a beetle well anyways of course it was the ninjas job to tank so he uses his copy image spell and then provokes, halfway through the fight the mob jumps on the blm, so the ninja uses provoke, funny thing is he hits the wrong macro and uses mijin garuke (which is a suicide skill that does dmg, kinda like the suicide bombtoss) well anyway KABOOM! and his life goes ftom like 550 to 0 in like a second. and he was like WTF nooooooo wrong macro! and we just began laughing..........well by the end the rng died and i had like 2 hp well never the less it was still really funny :thumbsup:

I've actually never seen a White Mage do this (use MP-inefficient healing when not in combat), but I see Paladins and Red Mages do it all the time, and it drives me up a wall.

Likewise, seeing people drop Cure II's on themselves in between battle right after I cast Regen on them. Gee, waste my MP, will ya?

Paladins will cast cures to keep hate, so its not always a waste. As long as they don't cure a fully healed member it has a purpose.

a funny story in eldieme!

dying of a decent challenge hound in eldieme while the others in my pt stood and looked.. tanked 10-12 hits before dying waiting for a voke.
i got raised by a high lvl passing by, and a battle was taking place near, got hit by ae and instadied again just as i was raised.
waited till the battle was over, got raised again, a skeleton aggroed my low hp and comes oneshotting me.

funny yet sooo sad. this was during genkai 1 and we had only just begun.. we got the first drop about 20mins later. and the rdm who got it goes "sorry guys, i need to watch a movie." as you can guess everyone in the pt blisted him. i wont mention any names though (coughfirehawkcough) ^^

The funniest thing I have ever seen is a so called "Battle Mage" I PTed with in Qufim, He was about a lvl 23 WHM He engaged the monster and even began attacking it. Then he waisted all his MP on blasting out Banish and Banish II (Is it is Banishga? Whichever is thelvl 15 spell) The mob did some attack and took most of us down to really low HP. I mean like in the deep red. I think I had like 20 HP. Then the WHM goes "Don't worry, I'll take care of him." And tries to finish him off with some spells. And we're just like, WTF! Heal us you idiot! It was hilarious. We all ended up dying, and we booted him. The WHM got taken down in like 4-5 hits. I was laughing so hard my ribs hurt. :biggrin:

I'm well aware of this. That's why I said "when not in combat", in the very section of my post which you quoted. It bugs me, though, when AFTER the fight is over the paladin is down 50 hp and drops a Cure II on himself to restore it to full. Especially when he's about to rest for MP (and thus recover that HP while resting) anyway.

Shouldnt they cast cure as much as possible anyway? just to raise the lvl of thier healing magic? I'm only lvl6 with my whm but if I have to heal my mp/hp for what ever I cast cure on myself then just sit and regain my mp thats how I get my cure lvl up... mind you i'm still soloing.

At higher levels (above level 10 in my experience) keeping healing skill capped is generally not difficult, and in fact generally just happens as a consequence of healing in combat. I suppose this might be somewhat less true for a Paladin who does not heal as much as a WHM, but even so, if he wanted to raise his healing skill, he would be better off casting two Cures (giving him two opportunities to raise his skill, and using only 16 MP total) to recover the 50 HP he is down rather than one Cure II (which only gives him one opportunity to raise skill, and costs 25 MP).

Whitemage in a party casting Curaga in battle then accidently hitting his benediction macro with 1 banshee arround him and one Lightning elemental then another guy running from a banshee comes and dies right in the frey so that banshee joined that battle.......lets just say everyone died......lets not say how fast tho......I made 3000k off the raises tho^^

funniest thing ever happend to me was in yoator jungle. So here's how the story goes.

I was a level 29 WAR in yoator jungle in an awesom party. I needed 1 EXP until i gained level 30. I was so god dam excited about being able to get the advanced job i was pissing my pants. So anyways, the RNG pulls a gob, ok ok, looks good, its at half life, im practily jumping up and down. Then this lvl 75 THF runs by with maybe 15 gobs on him, then uses hide right when the gobs were on us. I died, and before the whm zoned he raised me real quick while PLD was doing his best with his 2 hour keeping all the mobs off everyone. So i was raised and WHM said "QUICK QUCK! LETS ZONE!" so i accept raise, and get killed by bomb toss, now im around 1K exp till lvl 30, and think well it mines well be better to just go to home point in kazam and run back, right? well, my home point (as i didnt know) was in sandoria, ugggggggggggggh! so now my pt waits for me to get ALLLLLLLLL the way back to kazam and i get on my chocobo and start running back, but by mistake as soon as i got on choco i clicked "dismount" right outside entrance (where goblin smithies always are zoned) so i hop off choco not knowing what was wrong (i thought i was still on choco, because i was in first person) and turn around to /slap the gob. Anyways, it agros me and i run the wrong way (opposite from zone), and die again. Besides the point, i was completly uterly uppset and smashed my home point button, "OH MY FUCKING GOD!", i hear the fucking horns of sandoria, then my game freezes and i get D/C. When i get back in the pt alrdy replaced me and no other pts were online at the time.:eek:


The funniest thing that ive ever seen was when a level 24 blm with no sub and lvl 1 armor with only stone spells /shouted "How much is 1 magic point worth? i have a few of them so should i sell them in the auction shop?" and he wasnt kidding:sweat:

Im lv 11 partying in the dunes. The tank pulls a beach pugil (bad idea). Halfway through the battle The tank tells us to do what I was waiting for. MAGES RUN TO SELBINA. Me and the other two mages blast to Selbina avoiding gobs and all that. I have 2 health and I finally get to the gate. As I pass one last PC before zoning, the sand hare hes fighting catches me in an area attack and I die. Luckily a person rose me and We continued on but wow. I can run across the dunes with 2 health then die to a hare right outside the gate.

I don't think I'm allowed to give you any information about this (read the forum FAQs). It helps if you can read Japanese and you know what you're replacing. I'm also pretty certain that some other person must have written a good FAQ/Guide to it. Do a little Googling.

Personally, as a WHM, you're not missing out on very much. Curaga V and Protect/Shell V are pretty, but I'd rather wait for the actual spells to get released. (I've reverted to my backups)

Reflect and (Bar)Terra/Ignis/Aqua/Aeries look rather disappointing... and Holy actually looks better than Holy 2. If you want to see the spells, there's a Japanese site with videos of them, or bug me if you can't find it.

Well... If I stand long anough to cast 2 manual cures, it takes more mp than tossing one cure II to "top off" and then sit immediately. 2/9 mp is lost, so the mp wasted = 4.

Sitting down 4 secs faster or so > 4 mp. If the healing needed is LOWER than 60hp, then I'll agree it's a waste.

Just my viewpoint. /heal = 80% of a mages career ^^

i have a funny story

ima whm now in yhoator jungle, i was with an veerrry good pty when one person dropped and i decided to get a war. The war was 14 and incredibly stupid when it comes 2 FFXI. while we looked for a camp, he stole someone elses while i their puller was gone and was making fun of the pty that was there saying we stole their camp, to which their leader pleaded me to leave. well a lil while later he decided to pull a IT madragora, I was the leader so I decided to lead my pty near the zone and watch him die as he continually voked. when is hp was at like 100 i typed in /p shouldnt have been a dick boy! and removed him from my pty. When the mandy was killed by someone else i sat on his corpses face while he begged me for a raise while our puller pulled lol. not really funny, i just HATE when lil kids play the game lol, but im only 16 lol so correction, immature stupid ppl lol

Happened to me a few weeks ago:

Got a party with my SAM in Qufim, and I'm running out to the tower to meet them. Of course I get aggro from undead and start heading for (tower) zone. Picked up a few more links and I'm /shouting to let everyone know I'm coming. I'm usually good about not getting aggrod but I was having an off day. I get about 5 steps from zone and I die.

I /tell my party not to worry, there's a WHM right here getting ready to raise me. The WHM waits for the mobs to get killed off by some high lvl players, then raises me. Well, I should have zoned into the tower but I was worried about trains. So I hid in one of the little alcoves in front of the tower and rested, waiting for weakness to wear off.

As I'm sitting there some more trains come by, but I'm safe behind a pillar. Then, weakness goes away and my HP is in the orange. Boom -- instant undead aggro, 1 hit and I'm dead. ; ;

Same WHM sees me and says he'll raise in a minute. Keep in mind I'm behind a pillar, so I can't really see anything. Mage comes over, raises me a second time. But he didn't realize, and I couldn't see, that the skeleton mob was RIGHT on the other side of the pillar! Boom -- dead... again!

The WHM apoligised, waited until all the mobs were gone and raised me a 3rd time. I hid in the tower after that. :p So, 3 deaths and I hadn't even been in a battle. My roughest day ever. XD

This happend to me(Lv50 Drk) and my friend Samson(Lv 46ish Blm)

One day, we needed to head to Muhara, and we decided to take the boat there. So we're on the boat to Muhara, just standing around in the captains quarter talking. Sea horror spawn on deck, but we weren't woried because we were inside the room, and knew it wouldn't come up there. Atm, I was standing left of the captain, and samson was standing right of him, and Sea Horror was on my side. All of a sudden, Sea horror comes up the stairs on my side, and enter the room. I thought for sure that it was coming after me, but then it hits my friend, and kills him in two hits.

What I found hilarious about this was that he was farther away at that time, but it went after him anyway( if someone dies on an event, it's usually him)

ok i was in the valkurm dunes leveling my RDM (12 ATM) and my friend had umm fenrir out and was pullin and this galka WAR/ said ill help you stop running!!! so the person stops and does this /em takes 14 damage from fenrir then the WAR goes just a sec ill get my WHM in my party so he gets the WHM and she cures him (i am standind by the SMN laughing so hard my sides started to hurt) and does a whopping 0 so then he does the /em takes 14 damage from fenrir then the WAR said i cant voke how come?? i told him it is a summon!! the guy well let me save him!! so i did a /em casts cureII on **** then the other WHM goes how did you cure him i wasnt able to so the galka gets the rest of the party all n00bs >.< then they said here we can take him we havent died at all by this time i nearly pissed my pants so then the SMN had fenrir attack a gob by the konchat highlands the SMN and I got back to the camp with the n00bs followin then the SMN had fenrir return then he summoned the rest of the summons the n00bs were so funny NONE of them had subs while my PT had the appropiate subs
