I thought you don't get the first month free....That was only for the Japanese players because of the problems they had when it was first released. Will it be the same for the NA version?

Uhm....are there other possibilities apart from paying it monthly? Maybe for half a year or a year, to get it a bit cheaper then (50 $ for 60 months instead of 6x10 $ for example)?

The way it usually works with MMORPGs is the first month is a free trial. After that it's a set monthly fee. However I have heard that FFXI adds a 95 cent charge for every character over 1 you make so it's most likely 10 + however many chars you got.

$10 a month is pretty resonable... ive mostly seen 13-15 dollars per month and you get a discount if you subscribe for 3 or 6 months. But now you get it for a low low price of only $10 a month. Extra characters are not a neccessity since you can have all jobs on the same character! The only reason I would see for you to have extra characters if you want to play different races or if it is possible to play on multiple servers.

I actually think it's very reasonable, put it this way, i've probably completed each ff game in under 2 weeks, and that's with going to school and work inbetween (I do part-time studies and part-time work), so if I rushed, I know I could get FFIX done in 1 day, ffvii/viii done in 2-3 days and around 3 days for FFX, so if you take it easy but choose to register during, say, the summer holidays or spring break, you can take a week over completing it and have 3 weeks to mess about and use the game, so if you add $10 a month to the price of your game, probably about $85 on import (including 1 month's gaming), that's not too bad if it's a good game, which it's certainly looking out to be, plus you (i hope) have all the fun of bumping into your mates online and fighting freaking rabbits with them, or whatever, my question is, how can you actually stop square from charging you monthly?
If you're the kind of person who, once in a while slaps a game in and has a good old play or takes months over RPGs, there should be, if you're using say an ADSL line (because it would take up square's server more with dialup because they're hosting the whole net thing...), you should be able to pay a firm $50-60 to have it forever, or at least a year,
just my views, probably talking out of my a$$,

Just want to clarify the "first month free" issue. :)

Actually what Square offers is that it will be free of charge from the day the account is created to the last day of the same month. For example if your account is created on 1/30 then you will enjoy 2 days free, but if you create your account on 1/1 then you will have 31 days free. :)

And yes, this promotion is still here.

lol that would suck if they released the game like on the 30th or even the 20th :D I wonder if anyone would have the patience just to save a couple bucks O_O

$10 a month is a bit much, but I'll figure some way to pay. First month is free I do believe.

Maybe i'm a bit faster than you then :-p.
I got from having a normal level character at yunalesca (was stuck...) to being a high-levelled character right at the end of the game with most of the captured monsters, magus sisters and anima (magus sisters, the tall one, whatever her name is (i forget , I renamed her...) takes off 99,999hp each normal attack) and the fat one has over 14,000 hp in about 3 days. I got to disc 2 of final fantasy ix in 1 day (from the start of disc 1), levelling upto maximum wouldn't take me more than 2 weeks on ffx, it'd be deathly boring though, my ffix block is better than that, I used absolutely no cheats, I have absolutely every card, done all the chocographs, all summons, 99percent of all abilities mastered, i-e Zidane has every ability and his final sword, has over lv. 70, oh yes, i have beaten ozma. Oh and I just have to say it, no monster in any ff game compares to the underwater weapon of ffvii, just the difficulty, I personally don't like ruby, it's boring fighting him, there's only one way, MP-HP SWITCH, FULL SPEED W-Summon, quadra magic knights of the round, this way he casts knights of the round 8x a turn and can't be hit because he's so fast (good to have high dodging aswell), I know i'm just going on here, sorry I have an RCD (random conversation disorder) ^_^.
What's everyone's favorite FF by the way?
What do you think of FFX-2?

Yeah whatever. Anyway forget what I said. I made a fool of myself. $10 a month isn't bad compared to what I've seen. Besides: $10 a month is way past worth it! I'd pay $20! Well maybe not but scratch my previous post...it sucked!
