I'm now a RNG/WAR @ lvl 51 and still doing fine, but every high lvl RNG I see has NIN as his/her subjob.

Does the aim get so bad @ higher lvl's that you need to have the second Archer Knife or can you be a good RNG with a WAR sub also?

WAR works fine....dont fall into the cookie cutter if you dont want to. WAR gets Beserk..which can do some major damage. You can compensate for the accuaracy with rings adn necklaces and even clothes....one extra knife isnt gonna make or break you. I wouldnt turn down a RNG/WAR. To make yourself and even better asset....start to build your crafting up (for ammo) and work at marksmanship for guns....once you get a gun....put that in your comment when lfp. Id pick a RNG/WAR with a gun over a RNG/NIN with a bow anyday.

RNG/WAR is fine.
you'll do more damage than RNG/NIN, but you'll hit less often. RNG/NIN will hit more often but those hits will be weaker. It probably evens out over time. You might feel the pain if you keep missing sidewinder tho ^^;

Yes, you hit 2 times with your knife/sword tho. not shooting arrow 2x.
Most RNG sub NIN including myself is that after Sidewinder land on monster, the mob will be raping you very fast. With Nin sub, blink is our friend to save us for a couple hits until the PLD or other melee can provoke it off. I usually do Sharpshooting + Barrage + Sidewinder, shoot again for the Barrage, then Sidewinder again. After that either I kill the mob or getting kill. no PLD can pull it off from me now. If PLD have Cover, I run over behind him, still after Cover wear off, mob still hitting me.

Ninja sub is a must for me due to the nature of my set PT. at the start of the fight I have to take hate for about 1-5 hits while the THF pulls off sneak+trick behind the PLD.
Without ninja sub i'd be dead very quickly. Also need blink for after sidewinder, though as long as it's not too devistating, viper bite usually puts hate back on the pld.

due to the nature of our very high damage renkei, the loss of damage from not subbing war doesn't really factor into it for me.

Sorry for hijacking the thread but...does that make all 5 arrows hit like a sidewinder? For example, say a regular Sidewinder does 1k damage, then if you use barrage and all 5 hit, will the final damage be 5k?

Barrage and WSs do not stack...
As he said, Use Sidewinder, then shoot to use the barrage, and with the massive TP gain from a good barrage, shoot another sidewinder when available.

On to the subject at hand...
Whilst leveling my RNG/WAR, I found myself getting about the same spread invites as other RNG/???...
but I have to admit, if I could afford Utsusemi, I'd consider leveling NIN...blink is just way too useful when you've shot 1 arrow too many...
That's why, as a RNG, I love SMNs with Garuda...

Ninja sub is mainly for defense, and slightly higher accuracy. I doubt the +10 accuracy from another archers knife will give you even an extra 5% to hit. Blink is damn nice though, lets ya go overboard in damage dealing and not kill yourself.

War is for Berserk and Attack Up. A War sub quickly becomes useless if the tank can't keep stuff away from him. I use Berserk whenever it is available, but when I get hit I have to switch it off. It's a long wait for another Berserk everytime I have to turn it, so unless your tank can handle aggro, Berserk will do you no good.

Sam sub can probably do the craziest damage, but staying alive is hard.

I've tried both Nin and War as subs, it all depends on who your other PT members are. In a PT where you think the tank will have trouble holding aggro, then sub the Nin. If you think the tank can handle aggro, then a War is awesome.

Nin - slightly more accurate, uber defense
War - higher damage on regular attacks and Barrage, will die faster then casters when tanking with Berserk up, any aggro will eliminate alot of damage potential
Sam - don't really know, haven't played one or seen one in action before. They probably can do the most damage if PT can handle the aggro.

Till now I have little trouble with hate, I just use barrage when the mob is almost dead and still most PLD can keep the hate off

With sidewinder that may change and I dun like dying so much --" so I'll guess I have to lvl up my NIN sometime wich is now lvl 10

Any tips for lvl 10-30 woth NIN? ^-^

For ninja leveling I leveled the first 10 levels solo in east and west sabatura, then I went with my friends and partied in giddus (that underground part) and in the ealry area of tahrongi canyon. When I hit level 14 I considered myself fully prepared for Vulkrum Dunes (a lot of people do this at level 12 and die, I don't want to be a burden to anyone). I leveled ninja to 16 then started hijacking groups in Vulkurm and convincing them to take the jouney to mhuara and level on the beaches there. Good crabs and typicly uncamped. When you get up to 18 or 19 you can start on the leeches, gobs, and bull dahmels.

20-24 unfortunatly is Quifim.

25-30 is either Youghtar Jungle or Battalia.
