Well i'm 17 now, and still wondering if I make a difference in a group. I've asked a previous group and they say I make a difference. I asked another group and they said they see no difference when I was replaced by another melee when I had to log off. I'm confused  Quite honestly the group that said I made a difference is probably cause my sub whm backup healing.

Do I make a difference between lvls 15-24? I can't tell. In the FAQ it say to cast PeonII and Mandrigal during fights, but all this time I've been casting Valor and Mandrigal during fights or before them, and stacking the Peon's in between fights.

If I'm dong something wrong please let me know.

At those levels.. no, you don't make much of a difference.

Don't bother with minuet or anything else. Just concentrate on keeping madgrial and paeon up. After that, engage in battle and heal from the magic menu as needed. Your attack+, def+, evasion+ ect songs make nearly no impact on the battle where just engaging and using a weapon skill here and there can't be better.

Around 22 or so, minuet gets a little better, and it helps to keep minuet +magrial on the fighters while you fight things like qufim clippers, still engage. before it's nearly dead, start casting paeon so it takes effect during the downtime of the next pull.

At25 you get ballad, so stop engaging, and concentrate on keeping minuet + magrial on melee, then ballad on mages, and be a supplementry curer, continue with singing paeon just before the enemy dies, till you get curaga, then use that insead.

You'll eventually get more things to do, like etudes and the second ballad on the mages, more defbuffs like eulegy, magic finaly, higher foe requiems, threndony ect. Until you have these things, you are both a support figther and a support healer.

At your level, the difference you make over another job probably isn't that much/noticeable. However, 25+ the difference you start to make is EXTREMELY noticeable, and it's not all about mage's ballad.

The monsters start to get significantly harder for the melee's to hit to the point that if you are medding MP and Madrigal is off the melee's for a few seconds they will start asking for it in PT chat.

Wait till your 55+, when Minuet gives the melee a whopping +55 Attack, then ask them if you make a difference
Not to mention that without Madrigal they miss Incredibly Tough mobs so much.. its pathetic.
I joined a JP PT recently, where we went to level in Cape Terrigan, I actually had to drop minuet and do madrigal+madrigal because the goblins were too high a level for our melee to hit them hehe. then when I had to go the PT disbanded cause it was hopeless without me :p

Bard become a true asset once he reach level 25. At this point he's able to cast Ballad which allow him to speed up recovery time between fights. The songs bard sing to the fighters basicaly has the effect of adding another fighter in the group while you regen the MP for the mage and you act as a support healer or fighter.

Bard remains the most wanted job in a party for pretty much the whole game.
