Playing FFXI from europe?

Hi, i'm wondering if anyone here knows how well it works playing FFXI from europe? Im thinking about getting the american version, but the distance might be too far. Or what do you think? I'd prefer an answer from someone here who plays FFXI on american servers from any european country. I would also like to know what bandwidth you have, and how well it works (i have 0.25 cable, which kinda sucks).

Im a European playing FFXI. It works fine, I know others who do the same and it works fine for them too. Surely you could have done a search for posts from Europeans asking this question and found that we've already said that it works fine...


And for the record there are no 'American servers'

well, what i'm basically wondering is if it will work with my internet connection.. you see, the game costs about $85 US here in sweden, so i dont want to waste it on a game that wont work =/

so if anyone care to answer my post, please (if you play from europe) tell me what internet connection you have and how well it works on FFXI

I play from Belgium and it works just fine. I have an ADSL connection. And I hear Swedish internet connections are state of the art so I don't think it will be a problem for you. Even more, there are Americans playing on dial up and they don't have problems either. They also have to connect to servers in Japan, so that should prove my point.

My advice, buy it as soon as possible :)

I've ordered my copy from NA, and I'm in Australia. I want to know how to set up a US address? What do they use it for? Do they use it to see if it works with your credit card or something?

Anyways, you need to worry about your computer specs more than your connection at the moment.

We are quite a bunch of French people playing on Gilgamesh, never heard anyone complain about the lag :)

I'm Finnish and I use a 512/256 ADSL and I get no lag at all. The servers are simply amazing.

I'm on 150k cabel playing from the UK. It works fine apart from Jeuno and Qufim which lag a bit.

Im in Australia and am playing it on 56K modem and it runs fine no problems at all :D

Ok, perfect, that sounds very nice. But i do have one more question. I have a 2,2 ghz, 512 Mb ram, geforce FX5200 128mb.. will this work fine?

Yes. Run the benchmark to make sure and have a more accurate answer, though. :)

I play from sweden and it works fine for me, I'm on 1024/384 cable though.
