I broke down and bought the JP import of the game due to my desire to be able to momre adequately communicate with JP players in game.
I have a US keyboard, and configured my IME settings (Win2K) as per the guide conveniently provided on this site.
My input locale is also set to Japanese, per the guide.
This works well for a while, and I will see this kind of an IME panel come up in game on the same line as my command line when typing in Japanese:
[On][‚¨][Book Icon][”¼]
I use [Crtl] + [.] to switch between Kana and Romaji, which turns the IME to this:
[Off][a][Book Icon][”¼]
Problem is, occassionally it will get "stuck" in double-byte Romaji mode... usually after a battle or using macros... switching to Japanese input then looks like this:
[On][a][Book Icon][”¼]
Hitting [Crtl] + [.] only toggles the input such that I'm either using standard English input, or the doublebyte-alphabetic characters such as:
‚ˆ‚…‚Œ‚Œ‚?‚h?f‚?‚”‚’‚™‚‰‚Ž‚‡‚”‚?‚”‚™‚?‚…‚‰‚Ž‚i‚?‚? ‚?‚Ž‚…‚“‚…‚Ž‚?‚—?D
Any ideas on how to fix this? Right now, the only way i can do this is to logout to POL and manually switch the IME from within POL, and then log back to the game... all of which has the entirely frustrating process of having to be reinvited to the group... which might not be very considerate to the PT when out trying to level up.
