I've seen many pics of the PlayOnline menus and options. And the language is in Japanese.

I was wondering if you purchased the NA version of FFXI, will the PlayOnline menu and options be in english? Also, is it true that the PlayOnline menus have a in-game BBS and e-mail?

In the NA version of FFXI, everything in game and on PlayOnline is in English. And yes you get a @pol.com email address which you can send and receive from through PlayOnline. There are also chatrooms but I haven't seen a BBS in there.

It would be very cruel of Square-Enix to make us wait at least an year for a game if it was still to be in Japanese ;)

Yes, there is no BBS in PlayOnline, only Chatrooms, and if I remember correctly, there aren't that many chatrooms either; doesn't seem to be very popular.

E-mail is TXT-based, you won't be able to receive HTML-based emails unlike some other mail sites like Hotmail.com :(

just so u know, POL mail acct is accessible from 3rd party e-mail client software which supports APOP.

server setting should be;

SMTP: ma000.pol.com
POP3: po000.pol.com

just note, this works w/ acct setup w/ jp release, but the setting may be different w/ na release.
