I heard that you get a ring when you first start out and I was wondering where the best place is for my Mithra thief to start. Would the ring in Windurst help me out more than the ring from Bastok?

You only get a ring from the hometown where your race lives at, so since you're going to be a mithra you have to start in Windurst or you wont get the ring. The ring is useful for early levels I guess, but start wherever you want.

Bastok - Hume,Galka
Sandoria - Elvaan
Windurst - Tarutaru,Mithra

Hey, thanks alot. I'm waiting for the ps2 vs. to come out, so I guess I've got lots of time to decide how I'm going to start out. This wait is going to drive me crazy!

Wind has the best equip for THF, and seeing as you want to be a Mithra, that's where you should start.

I wish I was a Taru THF who started in Wind, doing 120 damage to a monster 4 times my size, running with flee, haveing better steal rate >>

Actually, the Bastokan Ring (HP+3, DEX+1, VIT+1) has more to offer a THF than the Windurstian Ring (MP+3, AGI+1, INT+1).

Hold on!! So what does a starting thief need more?? Dex +1, Vit+1 or Agi+1, Int+1??

You have to be a Hume/Galka to get a Bastok ring.

Mithras will still have more DEX than us though (I have done more than a Mithra with sneak if you can believe that, only by 5 points though).

But if your nation is higher in rank than Bastok and you are rank 3 you can buy the ring with CP.

the ring doesnt really help that much. i stopped using it at level 16.
