JP and US PlayOnline compatibility Questions!

'Kay, I'm now playing FFXI in Japanese on Japanese servers.

Question1 - Are the servers the same for JP and US users?
Question2 - If I buy the game in US version, will I be able to input my japanese POL account and password in order to use my characters?

I doubt you can use JP to login into US version, I suppose?

I play triel on both NA and jp version
on same pc using same ID and all.
