Which is better in the long run? Spear or Great Katana?

I know that the great katana is usually the Samurai's select wep, but in the long run is the spear really better when it comes dmg output in the long run?

Well if you're wondering what weapon to level, level them both. Great Katana is the Samurai's most proficient weapon, but also a lot of parties tend to ask a samurai to use a spear at higher levels for renkei's, but for most of the game you should use a Great Katana.

The spear is a bit below the attack power of a great katana.
