What exactly is a Linkshell?

Hi.. I don't have the game yet but I'm getting it for Christmas and I just wanted to know what exactly is a Linkshell and how do you become a part of one?

A linkshell is a close knit of friends that have sort of a chatroom atmosphere. You can use CTRL-L to type to that group of people and the chatting is Vanadiel World wide like party talking. What happens is someone guys a linksack and distributes pearls out to people, as people get added the group grows obviously. Some linkshells have certain rules or follow certain gamelife (fighters, crafters) some even have cool background stories, like Fighters of Bastok from many of years ago. Only certain linkshell pearl holds can hand out invitations and you can be part of many linkshells.

let me add one small thing... if you have played any other mmorpg like everquest.. think of a linkshell like a guild in one of those games :)
