I was looking through the changes and I noticed it said:
"The accuracy of physical attacks for high-level characters has been increased."
I was wondering if any Red Mages have looked into this, because it may allow for a halfway viable fighting Red Mage.
unless they increase damage done by redmage up by 20 times, we won't be viable fighters.
level 70. VS Incredible Toughs (Totetote)
70Rdm (I) hit for 0-5 damage plus 2-16 damage from en magics. if I'll be able to hit more I'll still doing the samae damage
70pld hit for 30-60 damage. constantly no miss
70drk with scythe 60-140 damage
70rng with arrows/guns 80-200 damage per shot
70thf 20-40 per hit but 400-500 from sneaktrick
WS of redmages
fast blade = 10-20 VS IT
burning blade = 30-60 VS IT
WS of others
Rng's sidewinder 1200+
Drk's 1000+ up to 1400 sometimes
Thf dancing&sneaktrick1200+
Increasing accuracy will help me cap my skill easier. that's all im happy about.

Hrm.. How discouraging.. I mean. I know that Red Mages are mages and all, but they don't have to be THAT pathetic at melee at higher levels. Even if we did just half of what like say.. a Paladin does, I'd be happy. But that's obscene..

I think RDM melee is mostly for solo.
You know no one other than BST is able to beat "tough" or stronger monsters after LV20 in solo and we don't try to do that. As the higher our LV becomes, the harder it is to beat "Even Match" ones that give you 100 exp. However, Red Mages are still able to beat them after LV40 and higher.
I read a lot of stories about LV65+ Red Mages beating Shadow Lord alone. I also read some posts about LV70 RDM killing Sea Horror, the NM by her/himself. This is not something other jobs can do.
We're also good at making money. I used to go to Batallia Downs to kill Sabertooth Tigers for their fangs (2,100 gils/3 pieces) at my LV51. We have a lot of rivals there but around this LV, only Red mages can do non-stop gil making by means of Phalanx, Refresh, and Stoneskin (means get no damage until Stoneskin goes off in 5 minutes). Other jobs sometimes have to take a rest to recover MP once it is consumed.
Don't be pessimistic. If we're even good at Melee in PT, that's nothing but overpowered. I'm sure other jobs will envy us...

I see your points and all, and while those are very good reasons to be a Red Mage, I would rather have had a more balanced character in terms of melee and magic. But I'll just have to deal with it, because I don't plan on dropping my melee entirely in a party.
