Well I with my income tax check coming I'll have some cash laying around. Think I should import FFXI? Nothing knowing japanse, but I heard it's not that big of a deal, I'm wondering if I should.

I know I've said that I wouldn't in past post, but waiting for this any longer will make me just not want to play it, as strange as that sounds.

Yeah well here are the cons..

*Not understanding any of the language

*Missing out of Quests

*Missing out on FMVS

*Always trying to get something translated

*It will be hard to contact Square with a technical Problem, hence you have the imported version

*You will always be asking for help, everywhere you go

*Some Parties won't accept importers

Eh well.. thats all i could come up with.., anyways enjoy,...

Talis I'm curious as to whether or not you have FFXI currently?

Anyway, I've had it for a few months now, its a sweet ass game to say the least, as far as quests and missions go, PiNG has done a wonderful job translating things and has made it simple to go through the missions along with menus, skills etc. Not to mention the fact that should you play for long enough you WILL learn some Japanese I gaurantee, the only problem I've had thus far is occasionally you'll have a somewhat difficult time getting into a party, its true that some Japanese people don't like to PT with English only speakers because of the language barries, however a very large portion of JP players speak quite a bit of english and are happy to accomidate you into their PT's.

As far as needing help non-stop goes, if you've got half a brain it wouldn't take you long to figure most anything out, especially if your familiar with this site, and if you get a world pass onto Ragnarok there are so many importers you won't know what to do with them all, and from my experience in Neo Gundan, although my primary server is Bahamut, everyone is extremly friendly and willing to help with whatever newbie importers may need.

In conlusion, I think that FFXI is most definitly worth importing, the greatest drawback is of course the price (I spent $94 after shipping from Himeya) again it is up to you whether or not to import, however with a little patience you should quickly be able to pick up on gameplay and reading some basic Hiragana at the very least.

PS: Should you decide to import, and want a free ride onto Bahamut check my profile for AIM screen name or email and drop me a line letting me know, we'd be happy to have another importer in our linkshell, GO KAIZOKU DAN! ^^ :O so good luck, have fun, and splash that cash :D

it's worth importing for me :) depends on what you feel. First thing is if you are not willing to learn a little japanese at all, you will not enjoy the game so much

when i started i hardly know any japanese :) after 3 months i can start to talk in japanese now. amazing game.

well...personally i'm ordering it in about 30 min. heh. the way i see it, we arn't going to get the game state side till sometime after summer and i personally can't wait any longer for a game i've already waited this long for. with the help of this site and its members i've been hearing (not only from the post above) that playing the import really isn't that tough. My opinion is if you have the extra spending money needed and you meet the spec requirements, go for it. but as mentioned earlier it is ultimately ur decision so good luck with that.
