Hi All.

Well I am now updatng FFXI (after updating everything else in the world) in the registration process after getting all my IDs and registering everything.

I am a Taru WHM called Dux. You will probably find me wandering around in circles wondering what in the world is going on in the Taru Hometown of WindHurst. :)

Once I know what server I am on I will post it so this is a quick heads up for anybody who is reading this that might be able to help me. :)

Maybe see somebody soon.

Cheers

Dux.

Hello Dux.

Let me be the first to welcome you. I will be glad to help you with anything I can, when I am able because I remember how difficult it was at first when I was a newbie, and hardly anyone spoke English.

What server are you on? Find out, and get back to me.

Well that was surreal.

Got it all downloaded, wandered around for a bit then thought. mm. I know I'll save this game. Oh. Theres not save option. Get to mog house. No Save Option. Look For Minimise. No Minimise. Press ALT TAB and game dies. Ho Hum. Not the greatest of game design.

Well I had no idea what server I was on, couldn't find that information either. So.

1) How do you save?
2) What is a temporary quit? (Mog House)
2) How do you quit?
3) How do you tell what server you are on?

I did look at the manual for "Saving Data" and all it says is that I have data in the server (no kidding) and data on my machine (remarkable).

I am assuming my current Taru is now defunct and I will have to create another one but I am not qoing back to FFXI until I work out how to do the most basic of things like "Quit" and "Save" which are hidden in both the manual and the menu system. Seems a bit odd to make it so difficult to just do the most elementary of things.

Log Out from the menu seems cut and dry.

When you log back in, you'll be in the same place you logged out.

You character is in the place where you alt-tabbed out.

the logout option is the on the menu. bring it up with (-), then arrow over, it's at the bottom.

go easy on him Hattori, this threw me for a loop when i first got beta, too.

Hi.

I did check the menu but couldn't find a quit button. I also looked for network information in the menu but couldn't find that.

I am also curious about adding Macros. They don't seem to be about either.

like i said, the Log Out button and the macros button, along with Quests, Missions, Key Items, Mog Safe, Bazaar, and a few others are on the second menu. This is accessed by using the left or right arrow to move to the next screen.

work on logging out before tackling macros

Read entire manual first would be my suggestion. Plus from the sounds of it this is your first MOG you have played. Type /logout usually works in most MOG's as it does in this one. And like the other guy said forget macros till you figure out the basic menu.

Guess I should sober up before playing any more. Its a hefty manual too. Not looking forward to reading it.

Righty.

Well after a full weekend of playing FFXI I am getting to grips with it all.

I have updated my profile here to reflect the weekends effort so I am now a proud Taru Taru Female WHM, lvl 9, sporting a shiney new Maple Shield and Willow Wand no less. Fear My Willow Wand and its devastating 11 damage.

The font on the login screen that shows me my server is quite attrocious but I believe it says "Siren", however I could be mistaken.

Seems to be quite a few JP on Siren. Being in the UK and being an importer is making teams a bit tricky. Alot of people examine me, evidently looking for a WHM to help them out but the JP are far far too high a level for me and the US ppl are either at work or not out of bed yet (what with it being 3am EST and all).

So if anybody is around on Siren and fancies meeting up at some point then that would be dandy. I have done the first mission provided to me at Odins Gate and am looking at the second mission now which hopefully might give me some much needed money. :)

Cheers All
