I'm going to buy the game soon, but for now I read everything I can about FFXI.

I want to be BLM with sub WHM.

As I dont want to be a little TaruTaru, I'm wondering which one to choose between Hume Or Elvaan.

I saw on a site that elvaan has 5 int and 9 mnd and hume will have 6 int and 8 mnd. (for BLM as the main job).

Should I base my choice only on those stats?

And If it's (for exemple) Hume that is slightly better than elvaan, should I start in my nation or in Windurts? I know that Windurst is the best magic place for stuff, but I heard I wont have my ring if I dont start in my own nation.

So my next question is what kind of benefits and advantages gives the Ring ?

I thank you in advance. :)

In my opinion tunic's look awful on humans and elves and look perfect for taru's but if you insist (and thats just my opinion).

well, I noticed 44 people viewed my thread. I would have liked that at least some of you guys who know the game better would answer me...

And I like wizard's robe on humes and elvaans. They look cool too. I just dont want to play a TaruTaru because they look like little kids. That's why I'm wondering if I should choose hume or elvaan.

Choose any race you will. Being an Elvaan may be a harder road than being a taru, but as long as you are satsfied with your choice, its well worthi it. There are lvl 70 Galkan BLMs around.

Being a Hume would give you more flexibility and choice, Hume is the most neutral of job choices, allowng you the largest flexiblity of job choices without much compensatoin. Elvaans are best with melee jobs, but they look great with any jobs. Its really a matter of your personal preference in terms of asethetics, and so on.
