You loose your weapon skill after changing jobs?

I just switched from WAR to RDM, both use swords. I lost my sword skill which was at lvl30, I thought your weapon skill lvl remained after chaning jobs.

Every level has a cap for its combat skills.

your combat skills are still where they were for your higher level job... and each time you level your sub, they will keep going up automatically... notice the number is in blue. This means it's maxed out for your current level.
