for 50-70? I keep reading that magic damage tapers off at these higher levels.. right now we have
1 WHM/BLM
1 BLM/RDM
1 BLM/WHM
1 BRD/WHM
1 PLD/WAR
1 DRG/WAR

sounds about right except that maybe the bard can be replaced with a thief for yokodama and to keep the hate on the pld considering that there are quite a few mages (3)

brd should stay. instead one of the blm should be thf or other melee. (thf recommended, though.)

true but it kinda depends on what you're fighting
heh an extra nuker is like having a safety belt..... if anything goes wrong they can nuke it till it dies....while a bard... well..... just.... sing and look hopeful
not saying bards are useless...but its just in those "when things go wrong" situations blms are more handy than bards

Can a WAR/SAM tank at the high levels? Paladin DPS (damage per second ie: damage output) is non exsistant and i read about how nice the warrior's Armor break is.
Our grp (mentioned above) is already level 40 with level 30 subs and chaining IT's has been no problem for all our levels so far. I just get worried when i read how magic damage becomes replaced by Melee damage at the very top levels (and this will only get worse when they raise the cap again?)
If anyone was going to be replaced it would be one of the 2 BLM, the rest of us always play together in every game.. I mentioned WAR/SAM because our paladin cry's every time he hits the mob for 10 (wich is all the time ;P )
Paladins don't exist to do tons of damage, they exist to use taunt and curative magic to hold hate while other people do damage. If your friend wants to be the one spamming high numbers, now would be a good time for him to change class.
Can a war/sam tank? Probably, but all and all he'll be far less effective then a paladin at doing it, because he can't taunt almost constantly with Cure3/4.
