If your subjob can use a job specific WS, then it will be available for use.

example, a THF/WAR may not use rangeki, but a THF/MNK may...

Actually I don't think this is the case

From what I understand your weaponskills are determined by the weapon you have equipped.

If a thief has the appropriate amount of skill he can use any weapon skill a monk can. The only difference is the monk has a higher skill cap for H2H weapons. For example (these are made up numbers to use as an example)

at lvl 70 a mnk may have 250 skill in H2H while a thief would probably be maxxed out at around 100-150 because thier proficiency in H2H is lower so their skill cap is lower.

A WS that requires 200 skill in H2H would only be usable by Monk simply because they are the only job that can get to 200 skill in H2H, not because its restricted to that job.

let me use an easier example...

a RDM's 1H Sword skill will surpass 50 during level 17, at which point, he will earn the Red Lotus WS, HOWEVER RDMs may not use it without either WAR, PLD, or DRK sub as it is restricted to these classes...

Ah ok. That's strange I've never heard that before. I didn't think subjob had any effect at all on weapon skills.

In the skill capture website, there are ex and sp skills. ex skills are those that requires a specific sub job or main job. sp skills seems to be different, babelfish translate one of the lines as "In addition, SP is main job private weapon skill. " :spin:
