You have set your video card graphic settings TOO LOW, or your video card driver needs to be updated.

Please ensure that you have the latest video card driver installed from http://www.nvidia.com and leave it at the "default" settings. Try Final Fantasy XI at the default settings FIRST, then raise or lower the video card graphics quality/performance one notch at a time until it is to your satisfaction of speed and quality.

Setting everything to "low" may have involved accidentally turning off a vital function.

=after a couple of trial an erros, i kind of figured that out. actually even though my card isnt top notch, i put all my setting on high and everything comes perfect EXCEPT character, enemy and some nearby models. this is the only porblem icant fix for some reason. ill post a pic soon but all the models come gray. also i do have the lastest drivers but i guess ill install them again just to be sure.

I'm pretty sure thats a video driver issue. Have you updated? And if the latest nvidia drivers dont work, look in the older versions (they have a driver archive thing link on the left hand side of the page when you get to the download page for the latest) for 41.09, those are the drivers i use after having worse performance with later versions 9though i havn't tried the absolute latest).

45.23 drivers are good go to guru3d and get them. What os are you running if 98 get the latest for it.I do not think any of the 50 + are good for the Ge force 4 cards using the 40 + drivers are best.

Good News, It finally worked!!!! ok, heres what i did, after reading about teh drivers, i d/l the older 40.xx driver and installed it. however even with that, the game was the same, so i decided to max the setting, including checking bump mapping, res 1600*1200, checking mipmapping. then under my vid cards setting i put AA to 2 and put everything to high preformance instead of high quality image. then this was my last straw before i decided to quit for today, but surprisingly, it worked. everything comes great. now i can slowly change the settings to find teh exact cause. the problem nearly drove me to but a new graphic card. thx for all te help you guys, ill take it from here :)
