i travelled all the way to san dioria and tried to go in the castle and they called me scum and wouldn't let me go in.
i am rank 2 windurst.
so then i find some kind of consulate of windurst in san doria and they tell me i need some kind of "letter to the consuls" to talk to them.
:(
what am i supposed to do?
Drain is cheaper in san dioria though...9,000gil instead of 15,000gil in windurst.

damn, that spell costs 20 k in my server in both auction houses.
Anyway, Im not sure on this but i think you need to be rank 3 to be able to enter the castle.
Also, to get the quest, u need ALOT of fame. You need to have around 75 quests completed.
To do that, id suggest doing some easy, repeatable quests. What i did was buy bat wings in the dozens.
Every two u trade Secodiand (North San d'Oria - F6), he will give you 200g, and u will have one quest completed.
Im not sure though if the quests from Windhurst will count, but they should be worth something.

if i was in your position, i wouldn't waste any time for the quest, just buy it in sandoria.
And, if Drain is selling good in windhurst, you can make a little cash on the side with that, an easy 6 k profit seems like a good opportunity to me.

Now, with 22 quests done in San, plus multiple repeats on the bat wing and rabbit hide quests, I was unable to enter the Chateau. The guards called me scum and booted me. After *accepting* Rank 2 Mission 3 "The Three Kingdoms", I was finally able to enter the Chateau. I immediatly recieved the quest after speaking with the Noval-whatever in the dungeon, and handed in the blood. I haven't tried it yet, but my Dark is only in the 30s so I'm not expecting much.
Now to get Warp out of that Rat, and level RDM.
(My main, yet still only lvl 13 :dead: )
Whatever city you are from, it'll be basically the same mission. You can have Drain before completing the mission.
Edit: Also, I did nothing that would affect my fame or rank in between checking if I could get in and accepting the mission, and nothing that wasn't directly related to the mission while I was in Bastok.

interesting....
but im still a little confused...i have a character who's home is san doria...and i finished the "save the children" mission...of which it gave me rank 2.
so then it doesn't give me any more missions....so how could someone from another kingdom to those missions.

You need to start trading crystals to the T.K guards.
As u do so, itll raise a bar in ur profile, im not sure how far it needs to be before u can accept the next mission though.
Just try trading some crystals until it reaches a quarter full, going back to the mission gaurd and checking if u can accept the mission yet or not.
Keep doing that until u can accept the mission.

To get inside the Chateau you need to be rank 3, have completed mission 6, have started mission 6, or BE ABLE to start mission 6.
Even then you still have to have enough fame for him to give you the quest (I wasnt able to at first).
And yes, you are scum for not being San D'Orian :p

You don't need to be rank 3 if you're from San d'Oria. I am not sure about if you're from another country. I am from San d'Oria, and I got into the Chateu at Rank 2 with 18 Sand'Orian quests completed, and I was given the Drain quest on the first try. You have to do the right quests in Sand'Oria to get enough fame (not all quests give ther same amount of fame). A fellow BLM had to do 20 San quests before he got the Drain quest, so it depends on what you complete. BTW, Drain was selling at the San AH on Carbuncle for 28,000gil a week ago! Good quest for non-mages!
