do't think you can cancel a mission, why would you anyway, don't you have to do em in order?

I may have a reason why one would want to cancel a mission.
Alright, I might have messed up quite a bit here. If I could figure a way to cancel a mission, then all will be well. If there isn't (which seems to be the general consensus on all the FFXI forums I have viewed) then I'm fairly inconvenienced, to say the least.
My residence is Bastok, but I want to become a citizen of San D'Oria. I've already travelled there by foot and I've been renting a house for a few weeks. I've finally gotten around to scrounging up some money and talking to Beriphaule in North San D'Oria (C-9). Beriphaule is the NPC you are to talk to to change your allegiance in San D'Oria.
Now this NPC says I can't change my allegiance without finishing my current active mission, which I accepted in Bastok. What happened is my boyfriend logged into my account and walked my character to San D'Oria. While it was a nice gesture, I did have some loose ends to tie up in Bastok first. I figured it wouldn't matter too much, but apparently it seems to matter now. See, what I did was I got to rank 2 in Bastok, but then I accidently re-accepted the mission you do to get Rank 2 in Bastok. In retrospect, I'm not sure why I did that. I wasn't thinking all too much, I suppose. I never bothered to re-do this mission and thus it is still in the "Current" sub-section in my mission section in the game.
Okay, so footnotes version: I want to cancel a mission I accepted in Bastok so I may become a resident of San D'Oria. How do I do that? Or is there a way around having to cancel the mission?
The way I see things now is I may have to run back to Bastok, do the mission, and then run back to San D'Oria. I don't want to do this if possible. This is a last resort measure. Anyone else have any ideas?
My name in game is Leprechaun and I am a level 12 Blackmage and also a level 8 Whitemage. Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you!
EDIT: Okay, I just sat and really thought about this. I'll leave this whole post up incase someone else has this exact same problem. What you do is you go to the Bastok building in North San'Oria (I forget the exact name of the building). There is a guard there and he will accept any sort of items you need to submit to finish a quest that you didn't finish in your homeland.
So I don't think there is a way to cancel a mission. You're stuck having to re-do it, but luckily I've found that not to be as difficult as I initially thought.
EDIT 2: Okay, well the stuff I wrote in my edit didn't work. That's what my friends told me to do and it would work, but it doesn't seem to be working. I'm feeling really quite scatterbrained right now! I talk to the guard in the Bastok building in North San D'Oria and I try to give the Fetichism quest pieces to her, but it doesn't work. Nothing happens. So I still need help :-/. Is there someone in San D'Oria that I could give the Fetichism quest pieces to, and thus complete my Fetichism quest?

Just run back to bastok. Change to a lvl 1 job so if you die, it's no biggee.
Ronfare > La Thiene > Valkrum > Highlands > Gustaberg
Not too hard, plus you can save a long the way, so when/if you die, you don't have to start from sandoria.
It should only take about an hour to get back to Bastok.

So there is absolutely no other way, eh. I was hoping there was another solution other than running back and forth. Oh well, thank you.
Just goes to show you how much pre-planning can really help in this game.
EDIT: Okay, I'm in Bastok now. I have no current missions anymore. Does this satisfy the requirement to become a San D'Oria resident? Besides the money requirement, that is. I want to make double sure.

yes, if u don't have any current missions, u r eligible to change ur allegiance to a country of ur choice.
btw, the cost to change ur allegiance depends on the conquest rank of the country u wish to move to;
if the conquest rank of the country is;
1st - 40k gils
2nd - 12k gils
3rd - 4k gils
i believe in Ramuh (04) server, san d'oria is in 1st place this week, so the cost is 40k, not 10k... it's weekend already, so u might wanna wait until the next conquest ranking. it might fall down to 2nd or 3rd place thus saving ur money. but i'm on a different server so dunno how strong san d'oria is there...
