After running around and healing/protecting everyone in sight for a few days, I've started to run out of things to say in response to "thank you" or "arigatou". That probably sounds like a silly complaint but it's actually kind of bugging me, because I feel I must say something in reply. I've tried
You're Welcome
You're very Welcome
Just doing my Job
Dou Itashimashite
followed by : ) or ^^
What do you guys do in this situation?

If you have Japanese support simply say "‚¢‚¦‚¢‚¦?O?O" or just ieie if not. This is what the japanese say. It's like no thanks needed.

Iie basically means No problem... so Iie is good..

I just yell an occasional "rawkz0r" or "w00t" and we all pretened like we understand each other. Then we try to not piss each other off by getting our pt killed. All in all it works out great.

Wow, thanks struck and kumaeru!
I don't have the japanese version and I don't know how to get kana or kanji to work in the NA version, so I guess I'm stuck using romanji for now... must write Square Enix to ask them to fix that!
I know "iie" is "No", so is "ieie" like "no, no (not at all)"? I guess, even if they do it, I would feel kind of strange saying just "no" as an awnser...I'm always afraid I'm going to be missunderstood :dead:
But thank you again for the tips! :)
it's always either "No problem" or "it's my job ^^" for me...

All I've been doing is /wave or /salute and run away. :)
If I happen to be in a spot where I have to rest, and I'm stuck with the person I helped, I usualy just say "No poblem, glad to help. :)" But I prefer not to, cause I dont' want the people who I help to feel like I'm expecting something in return, so I think it's best to just haul out of there once I'm done helping them.

Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto!
Domo doesn't mean thank you--Arigato does. Domo is a suffix for 'A Lot', so generally Domo Arigato means 'Thanks a lot'.

Lol, I suppose It would be fun to become creative when tlaking to japanese players.
"ITAMZ ITAMZ ITAMZ BABA, PLZ BABA PLZ BABA, ITAMZ ITAMZ RUSH RUSH RUSH ^_^ ITAMZ PLZ ^_^ =_= BABABABABABA" I can't wait to use that( does anyone know what it means, if anything?)

I usually just smile, do a nipple-pinching emote and run off. (I am a girl so it works out okay.)

Actually the whole no problem thing is actually Iie Douitashimasu but because its long its shortened to Iie.
to thank someone its Arigato, or more respectfully Arogato gozaimasu.
to say goodbye, say Ja ne, or Ja mata. Ja also works.
To say sorry or to interupt or thank one or feel sorry for someone, use Sumimasen.
To say goodbye (feeling sorry or respectfully), Shitsulei Shimasu. Dont get the arong idea.. Shi in the first word has no sound so dont think about it. ^^;;
ohh and if you want to greet someone, Douzo Yolishku.

Good info, thank you. I know so very little about Japanese, so I also don't want to offend any Japanese speakers by using the language incorrectly. From what I understand, writing it in "romanji" is bad enough.
I'm also a white mage, and I say "dou itashimashite" or "ieie" after some thanks me for a heal/protect. Well, I assume they thanked me... when I get katakana (kanji? I don't know the difference) tells, they could be saying very nasty things for all I know. :o
I'm still a bit confused on the difference between "iie" and "ieie". Are they different words, or different spellings? Does "Iie" mean simply "no" and "ieie" mean roughly "No problem"?
Also, I've seen "arigato" and "arigatou" -- is one of those more correct?
I use all. welcome, no prob, np, ieie, depends on my feeling
sometimes I cast cure then keep on running so... didn't reply anyhting

so if you're huntin' solo, and someone happens to run up to you and says, "PARTY?", you say, "ROCK ON!".
