Sub job and Advance job questions!

When you get your sub job or your advanced job do you combat stats go back to 0? (the combat stats are the sword stats, scythe stats....etc)

And (dont flame me for this cause different web sites say different things) what exactly happens when u get your sub job or advanced job? does you main job lvl get cut in half, go to zero, or stay the same??

this is the way i understand it:


at every level there is a limit to how much you can advance a skill, when you hit that max limit, the number becomes blue, and you do not gain any more points toward advancing it, until you gain a level in the job.

Lets say you level up a skill, your sword skill, on one job, then switch to another job. If the job you have switched to has that skill, the level of that skill will be as high as possible based on the job level.

i will try to illustrate this with some numbers, the numbers are only for purposes of this example.

If you level your Warrior job to 10 and max out the sword skill at 50.
If you switch to Thief at level 1 your sword skill would be maxed at 5.
--at level 3 your sword skill would be maxed at 15.
--at level 5 your sword skill would be maxed at 25.
--at level 7 your sword skill would be maxed at 35.
--at level 10 your sword skill would be maxed at 50.

at this point you would start gaining points toward the skill.

When you get to the point that you have a subjob, the skills of both jobs becomes available to you with the following exception;
you cannot advance any skill your main job would not have without the subjob.
