View Full Version : Sad state of Bastok

I returned yesterday to do some quests and was surprised that Bastok has become a ghost town:( I remeber the old days when Bastok market was crawling with people. People lined up to do Bazaar. Bastok is also in the last place (For the longest time last year, we were first) with only 2 regions under their control. My Japanese LS members are all seriously thinking of immigrate to Sand or Wind after they reach Rank 6. So sad...

ah come on. When i started as WH i had no idea it was one of the stronger places, I started their because it sounded cool (tho a WH hume is rather odd it seems....)

Dont give up on your city because it kinda sucks at the moment. In 1 or 2 months it may bounce back stronger than ever. Won't it feel good to say "I started in Bastok all that time ago and stuck it out through the tough time?"

Hell even if Windhurst only owns Tahrongi I would stick with em ^-^

I don't plan on changing. I'm just pointing out how drasticly Bastok has changed since I first started playing. It was a hustle and bustle town back then. It's pretty much all about Jueno now.

You have not played long enough the know the difference. Also, Windhurst's conquest is more than just Tharongi (misspelled)

Ok i misread your post. That doesnt mean there is any need to give out patronising generalisations like "You havent played long enough to know the difference"

I also know WH's region is more than Tahrongi /roll eyes.

Yah I understand about Jueno and yes I have noticed Bastok is dead. But then again...when i visit WH and Sandoria....they are pretty empty too.

Yah, Tomoh, I really remember those days where Bastok was like the ever reigning champion in the past. Bastok Markets were always busy with people and we'll have quite a bit of shouts here and there. I also fondly remember the days when most places I go to, there's an outpost that belongs to us and I can really save up my progress during dangerous journeys especially the one where I tried to sneak to Jeuno using only my lvl1 monk.

Well those days may be gone now, but who knows it may come back again. As of now, what we can do is just help it gain back its dominance slowly. Hehehe...

But nowadays I think most people just are congregating at Jeuno.
Well no choice cos higher lvl exp can only be gained ard there.

Dear everybody from Bastok,

It's about time!!! Bastok had been in control of Vana diel for so long, that you guys never understood the pain of being from Sandoria until now! ;)

It would be interesting to see the population count of the people in different countries now, compared to a couple months ago.

LOL Tongyang:) For a while there, I thought Bastok was invincible. Then I went on my vacation/Biz trip for 3 weeks, and when I came back, the world was changed. I don't mind us being in the 3rd place, but it is sad to see so few people.

Exactly. :p

Now San is coming in first more often, used to be once every 1-2 months. Just be happy you can get more conquest points now, tomoh. :spin:

People can change which nation they fight for? If so, I hope they change it so that you cant. Thats pretty lame. "Boo hoo, my city is losing this month, I think ill go change to the winning team." If its possible at all I think they should only be able to do it one time and then they are stuck with one place forever. Kinda stupid how people dont want to work to make their city the best they just want to change sides every time the balance of power changes.

You're missing the fact that you have to pay a big sum of money to change nations. Kind of a immigration fee :)

Still lame in my opinion. Maybe its harsh but I hope the price is HUGE.

How is the leading nation supposed to change if everyone moves to the nation who wins during the begining?

The price IS huge. 1st place countries reward their followers with less conquest points. So, let's say I would decide to switch from Bastok to Sandoria. I'd a) waste gil and more importantly b) lose all my conquest points.

Ok, let's say I'm a sandorian now. It will be extremely difficult to earn all the conquest points needed to purchase the best items. Once I do have enough points, my country might not be in 1st place anymore and I won't be able to buy the items I wanted to.

In my opinion, it's best to stay with your country and build up your CP until your nation is in 1st place and then buy the items.

You'll understand better once you start playing...the price is quite huge :spin:

And on another note; it'd totally suck ifyou couldn't change home or if it were more expensive; Whaat, if you decided you were sick of a place you'd have to be from there forever, or delte your character to start all over? that'd suck... Stupid idea.

Another penalty is that you have to redo all your missions from 1! At high levels, this won't be a problem but pain none the less.

Ahhh Thank you for clearing up how difficult it is. Im glad its not a just like go to an NPC talk to them and switch whenever you want kinda thing. I agree with your opinion Shadow about staying with your nation and helping them become number 1.

Crono, ur right. I do lol

I wish US release was in view so I could play. Game sounds awesome and I cant wait to play with some of my RL friends who plan to buy it as well. Windurst will own =P and I will be for Windurst 127%.

yeah, i think that square needs to add some areas in the three normal kingdoms to draw some people, i mean everybody is crammed into jueno

Probably if the expansion does come out in April with some more new areas to explore, all those high lvl characters will then shift their operations to those new areas..

As of now, Jeuno is the only possible congregation pt for most people cos all high lvl exp monsters are located ard its vicinity.

Tis Luciferx^^.

San is now last ><. With the expansion coming, the old-timers of Bastok past will probably return. Bastok is now second and getting stronger....

When will the day come when I can see San in first placing? ><

Luciferx aka Luc, Luci (Luci sounds gay ><)

Yeah, for a few hours now Bastok has had 10 regions in conquest, and also forced San Doria and Windurst to become allies in the process. That was really sudden.

Well...sadly I dont think we will stay in first for long... San is going to take Qufim, and Windhurst will get Zvahl.... >< plus, the bastok CP Items suck this time around... >< x2...

We did it!? I remember looking at all the regions last night before I logged off and it was close in a couple of them, but we were winning at the time. Yay! Finally we can get some of those juicy conquest items we've been saving up for!!

I looked at the world map today and realized that Bastok own 3/4 of freaking Vana Diel, I'm sure that makes up for the lack of people in-town.
