So I get home at 5 this evening and start installing. At 8:15 the patch finishes downloading. The update begins installing, gets to 33% - and errors out! Yes, I know, I should have recorded the error code but I was a little bleary-eyed and I figured the installer would recover. Nope - it went back to the downloader and to step one. Not a problem, I figured. The installer will realize it has the files, verify them, and start installing. NO! WRONG AGAIN! THE DOWNLOAD RESTARTED FROM THE VERY BEGINNING!
I am sad
I am angry
I want my game...
I am redownloading. Step 1 is almost done. We'll see where step 2 takes me... And yes, I know 'redownloading' is not a word... bite me...

Error was an 1155 if anyone is wondering. I made the mistake of exiting FFXI after the second time I got it. I was then treated to a message that I must uninstall and reload FFXI... Gee, a 6GB game takes a while to uninstall.

Things are about as bad as I can imagine them getting... I rebooted after uninstalling because my computer locked up. I got a message that hal.dll is missing. Windows XP is now corrupt. I am going to try something I never do. I am going to attempt to repair Windows XP. Time to contact SE...
