ERROR : POL-1153
Problems with the HDD Data were detected. Version update failed.

Did anyone else got that error message? If so, do you know how to remedy it? I don't really get what the message is trying to say; it's a little too vague. :(

- There weren't any corrupted files when I checked through Playonline Viewer's error check.
- I have 83.4 GB's of free space.
- There were no other programs running in the background.
- I doubt that its my router, because Playonline Viewer updated without any errors.
- I tried Defragging and Disk Cleaning.
- It's definately not my router; tried manually connecting the modem directly to the computer, still no-go.

Thank you.

Change your CDrom/CD-RW drive.

I'm not sure I understand. I've used a DVD-Rom to install the game, yes, but how would replacing it with a CD-Rom help? I've played the beta before, and installed it with the same exact DVD-Rom, and it worked.

Besides, none of the files were corrupted when I checked it through Playonline's file checker. :(

Anyone else? :(

Take the MOD chip from your system/computer to make it work.

I had similar problem with my copy picked up this morning. At disc 2, every time it gets to 59%, it starts to slow down and error messages will pop up.

I do use a dvdr drive. But I think the problem lies within the game cds as my exchanged copy worked perfectly.

Apparently 59% is the point to change from disc 2 to 3. But some bad discs won't pop the change disc window so you can't complete the installation.

Hope this helps.

But the thing is, the installation of the game itself went through successfully without any bizarre error messages or anything. Its just that the update function won't work for me, because its telling me that my hard drive is being retarded.

From what I've read, nobody else besides myself is experiencing POL-1153. But if there's nothing else I can try, then I might as well try to find a CD-Rom and reinstall the thing.

Any more suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

No one? *sigh* I'll call SE's support later, just in case they might know.

Just called. I don't think they know as much as I do at the moment with my problem. Can anyone else here give me some other suggestions?

On the FFXI site.

Try copying all the files from the CD onto your computer and then installing the game manually by running the setup.exe for each disk.

Like I said, the problem is probably not with the installation, its the fact that I can't update it. And yes, I've already tried the install-within-harddrive method. It didn't make any difference whatsoever.

So far, I think I'm the only one having this problem. :( If anyone else has anything else I can try, please post.

I got the same error, i think is porblem with the internet coneccion, are behind a firewall? All I had to do was give permission to the game and hit retry and it went fine.
