View Full Version : cheating

Every time I go NM camping (mostly mee deggi) I notice that some people are cheating when it comes to nm hunting.
For example, before it even fully spawns, it already starts heading toward the other person, the person used to job abilities or magic, the nm just goes straight to them.
This pisses me off to no end, I know you're supposed to call a gm for this sort of thing, but the GM can't really catch them doing it.
So my question is, where can I get one of these programs and how do I use it ^^
I really don't think it's fair, but i'm just trying to level the playing ground for myself.
On another note, anyone hear the details on mog3 yet?

Are you even hunting correctly? Or do you just wait for the monster to appear to do anything?
It's not hard to beat out people for spawns, you just gotta be a playa.

I have beaten people with taunt before using poisen, all you gotta do is know the NM inside out, know the pop times and not suck. You also gotta remember there is a slight lag so the Japanese players will have a split second advantage. Turbo button joypad is also your friend.

I know my mee deggi, I hunt him almost every monday (I'm giving up now cuz this happens every time)
He pops after atleast an hour, only pops same time one of the two regular yagudoes would pop, which is every 13 minutes after one is killed. When it's time I spam the taunt button in my ja menu like crazy, but I don't press it too fast, or it doesn't register. I press it fast enough so that the thing saying there's nothing to taunt scrolls by as fast as possible. I can usually get the regular yags that pop up there, but they always win with mee deggi no matter what.
I know they're doing something because when it happens, there's nothing in the log showing they did anything, and there's no animation. today it was a monk/thief, the only thing he has is the energyball, and that is in no way faster than taunt, not to mention there was no animation, and nothing in the log.
I used to be able to beat people for mee deggi all the time, but the price of the gloves went up and I haven't been able to get him since, it's really pissing me off.
well NM hunters ESP something like that mee degi skilled hunters know exact seconds it's popping. and about 10 seconds before pop they will start spamming targetnpc chouhatu macro already. It's not cheating, it's just they target and pull the monster as soon as they start to "fade" into view and it's the targetnpc command that targets the NM
And importers will always see it fades slightly slower than JP (?L?EƒÖ?E?M)
btw monk's kikoudan is just as fast as provokation with longer range ^
they are not cheating
probably the reason why you lose is
1. you don't have a turbo controller
2. you have lag since you are in the US
if you get the proper controller you can easily camp that NM. i can kill it as long as it's in my taunt range

Actually, there is a much more accurate timing for the yagudo pops. ;) Old skool yag huntas~

nah, it's their turbo controllers. but it's easy to beat them (sometimes) just gotta use that hand that you ..... well.... it's the faster hand, musashi, the faster hand. ;) :spin:

Please expand on the turbo controller. Can this be programmed? For PS2? I'm perplexed since the only turbo I know is the firing kind used shooting games.

Programmable controllers are NOT allowed. Square have said they will ban anyone caught using them. Do so at your own risk.
They've been used a lot for "offline" fishing. Apparently GMs lookout for this and will /tell a person they believe to be using the equipment. If the player doesn't respond, they will get penalised.
I'm sure this kind of thing could help with NM hunting, but it could also be a hindrance, I guess. Just setup good macros, know your prey, and hope you beat the opposition. Me and Fureiya didn't have a great deal of trouble hunting Hoo Mjuu with taunt.

actually vivid I use both hands......for hitting taunt. I open ja menu and keep pressing both enters as fast as I can, as I said, it's not that I'm pressing it too slow, but it I press it any faster than it wont register, I CAN'T press it any faster. And I said the problem wasn't that they were taunting if faster than me, I have no problem with that (well.... I do, but) but when they don't use a ja or spell and it goes straight to them, something is up. I check the logs, nothing shows, you can look at them when they do it, they don't even move. And I bought controller adapter for my pc just for ffxi, but when I go to ffxi controller config while my controller is plugged in the whole menu just dissapears, and I have to ctrl alt del just to get to the regular ffxi menu, weird.
Plus I didn't just make this up..... I think sanzo did.

Its #2 mostly, the closer you are to the server, the faster you will recieve the information. I see people taunt/dia nothing but air, then the NM pops in that air, its cause its already pop'd on there recieving data, and we havent recieved it yet being half the planet away.

This exact thing happened to Cobbi and I today. We were both very annoyed and gave up.

PS2 also loads much faster than PC
Likewise, gamepad pwns keyboard
I had the same problem with my adaptor as you musashi, just go into game pad controls via windows menu and delete any drivers you installed, then reboot with the adapot installed and do not use the disk drivers it came with. For me it only worked properly when windows recognized it as a generic controller and installed its own drivers, i think it was some malfunction with that crap dual shock feature and my computer, hope that solves your problem ;)

I'm sorry, but if anyone thinks the JP are cheating in their NM hunting is ignorant in the sense that they still:
1. dont know how NM hunting works
2. dont know how the game works
Sure, there are cheap tactics in NM hunting, but there is a difference between being cheap and cheating.
Its called lag Miyamoto, quit crying.
